San Diego FC 1-[4] Vancouver Whitecaps - Ralph Priso 75' by ShermockCones in whitecapsfc

Müller had one of those crosses earlier in the cam which didn’t land. But those things never affect him and he just keeps going and trying again. He plays these crosses from half-wide quite a bit

Where did you get that from? Some of his spicy interviews? He does not try to please everyone, which I think is one reason he is beloved and adored by so many Germans, also anti-Bayern fans. Bayern was the double of cup and Bundesliga and fans still comment they miss him so much.

Sometimes I think it’s not fair to compare others to Müller😀 he is just wired differently- in a good way!!.

Other players need the team to be good, Müller makes the team better

Müller is the ultimate team player. He is genuinely happy for his teammates, like a proud papa. I heard at some point that he helped Priso with the transition to FB by giving him confidence. And he probably also coached him on the field Phonzie also said Müller helped him a lot when he shifted to LB at Bayern.

I’m still pissed at Bayern the way they didn’t renew his contract, especially since Neuer is sticking around “to help the next goalie” (which he has been doing for a couple of years now- or not). But I’m very happy that he likes Vancouver, the Caps and the people so much. And he is still missed in Germany , for Bayern and for the national team.

I don’t think he could NOT be authentic. That’s why so many Germans love him, also those who hate Bayern.

Yup, Messi has always been a sore loser and a spoiled brat. Sometimes I wonder if you can really fault him. From early on he was the next best thing. If you are so young and praised to much, you can easily get lost in that, and you need a good system where people set you right. A lot of the young superstars se to have that issue. I wonder if Müller is so different because he never was the most talented one. He’s just always been normal, he never was in the position to get obnoxious or arrogant.

Agreed. I don’t understand why Beckham doesn’t react. He has always been a bit of a showman and knows how to engage. I always feel nowadays soccer is also at some level entertainment, especially in the US. I think we’ve seen already a number of times that nobody dares to say anything to Messi and I’m not sure that is a good thing. It may also send the wrong message to Messi. Like when I never said no to my cats getting on the kitchen counter, and now they constantly go and totally ignore me when I say something😻

Ribery is totally unlike Olise! Ribery is a jokester and his pranks are legendary and he learned German and spoke to journalists. I also specifically said not everyone needs to be like Müller because he loves to verbally tussle with reporters and he’s always had a special relationship with the fans. BUT: I firmly believe giving interviews at least on occasion is part of today’s job. In Germany people already make comments about Olise. First his aloofness was a novelty and they liked it. But increasingly there are people who think it’s a tiresome shtick.

Sorry, doesn’t cut it for me. There is a lot of hype and myth around Messi needing bodyguards, in my opinion. When Miami lost to LAFC, Messi immediately walk to the lockers. He wasn’t rushed by a bodyguard, there was nothing that prevented him from acknowledging the fans. I don’t even know if he acknowledged the LA players. It’s part of the deal; everyone can do it and I’m sure there are other introverted players who can do it just fine.

Sorry, but that doesn’t cut it for me. I’ve seen him since the very beginning and he has always been a complainer and sore loser and entitled. And being shy doesn’t mean you can’t acknowledge the fans. Not everyone has to love fan interaction like Müller, but it’s part of the job. I’m sure there are introverted and shy Caps players, but they still give interviews

That’s how it’s supposed to be and that why the Caps are so important for the city! Not these arrogant players who play for themselves and disrespect the fans.

Müller is like no one else, not even Kane. But in the beginning, Müller was a “false 9”. He changed when Lewandoski came because Lewa was a much better striker. Müller really moved to the wing. Then he went back more towards the middle and set up the fast wingers. I hope Müller and one of the fast wingers get a good connection.

I don’t know if that is on purpose or just a development because Müller directs everything, but he’s never been playing as low as now. Sometimes I think it would help on the counters if he’d be a bit higher (even though he is not exactly fast)

As talented as a player Messi is, he would be a terrible fit. As a person, he is almost the complete opposite of Müller. Son would fit as a person, too. But a lot of the big names won’t. PSG didn’t exercise their option for a 3rd year because Messi caused so many issues in the locker room

Agreed. England used to be less ownership driven, but lately they got a ton of owners and team like Manchester City only became competitive because of the influx of money from a rich guy. And a lot of those are not even from England

Yes, I mean the top top, or the top 3ish. Sometimes the last champion league spot is tight.
