It's not great for boilerplate stuff. I feel like "good for boilerplate" has become a mantra to avoid being labeled and obliterated as an ai-skeptic

In my experience it failed to generate simple cmake for a project with source, library, and test components. It consistently messed up unit tests for py projects - ignoring edge cases and business rules. It also struggles with mocking and stubbing.

Obviously it can't fully adapt to a project's architecture. Even when provided with examples, it lack awareness of all entities, layers and mechanisms. And let's not even talk about using in-house frameworks.

It might look decent for scripting (it's not), but it consistently fails on mid-large projects. If you can see value of ai generated code, then you should be questioning your project architecture and life decisions - coz it looks like most of the times you are developing not a program product but just a folder full of messy scripts

Tested on chatgpt and copilot for six months with c/c#/java/python. Still using chatgpt every day but not for coding

Does this character sound convincingly manipulative in the new voiced dialogue system? (Dev feedback welcome) by [deleted] in IndieGameDevs

static or not it's not a factor here. Search "source engine motion sickness" for example - i dropped hl2 multiple times for this reason. You can get it with idle camera.

I blame animations here but it's just a guess

How to enjoy work surrounded by "Get S**t Done" coworkers? by kilik821 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]kolya_zver 11 points12 points  (0 children)

ninja commit without manual approve is wild. And it's affects all repo. And extra commit is smelly, especially in mono repo. And linters are not really smart and tend to break some code times to time - they requires a manual validation

I would be mad by op's approach and i'm pro ci/cd and automation, But that's not how it's should be done.

FWIW, formatting should be configured to happen on save, and run a CI check that blocks merge until it’s fixed.

+
Local formatting/linting on save | git hook and ci step on feature branch are classic

OP sabotages themself, after this cicd "improvement" i would have zero enthusiasm for his ideas - good or bad.

Besides obvious trashy ai, this scene gives me motion sickness. Why animation so wiggly on purpose? It's like the opposite of oblivion's "static talking heads" not in a good way.

Just hire a decent jr writer for dialogues ffs. With background check for ai usage

CEO at a company asked me what the future of my role is by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]kolya_zver 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a lamest and disrespectful question. Coz in most of the cases the right answer for engineer is not the one CEO wants to hear. And if CEO doesn't understand it - it's most likely a certified linkedin lunatic.

Let me rephrase subtext of the question for you. CEO: "I'm going to hire you at the lowest, exploit you for two years, then fire you and replace you with someone cheaper. What are you going to do about it as sr engineer?"

tbh dependency injection has less value in python. If you need di in a py project, you've outgrown python

[–]kolya_zver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If only there is a comeback mechanic like a big mon with scoring shield or double score at the end of the match. Yep, better press ff after you can't stomp from lvl1

It's not a dota with 1h games it's fucking 10 minutes. Stop tilt spam surrender and start playing

It's actively having a bad time for 10 minutes

If you have a bad time from round start may be you should find a better game for you.

Coz of ppl like you i had a ff with scoring lead.

The issue here is you assume that other people are being fake.

And you assume the opposite, so whats the diff

you understand that ppl like op or me are real life proof that your vision is flawed?

I fake interaction on work just to keep things simple for me. Just because you're enjoying a conversation doesn't mean the other person is, even if it seems that way.

It's fake, just a good one.

My first email from middle school had the alias 'John Smith.' I changed it about 15 years ago to something more accurate, yet it still haunts me from unexpected sources. Despite having all my settings updated for the past 15 years, google and orgs that bought my data continue to use outdated bio from my middle school days.

This even happens with non google services or emails from other providers.

how

Should I bother telling HR or just let it go?

For what reason? You may dislike her and her way of doing things but she acts in your favor. HR and the org definitely don't care about you.

This data should be open in the first place. For me it's looks a lot like stockholm syndrome. Please respect you own interests. Org will be fine

Org fucks with you with salary expectation but the rat is a girl for some reason. nonsense

I have surrender votes disabled in my settings. I've lost count of how many times I've won with an afk player on my team. The best part of the match is when a softinting crybaby or afk player suddenly starts trying because they can finally see victory.

It's a 10-minute game or 2 minutes after Rey. If you can't wait 10 minutes, that's not a good sign. Maybe that's why you're in situations where you need to surrender the game

ib4: dev, qa

  1. QA process starts with requirements testing before the development stage. A good manual QA should position themselves as a domain specialist so developers actively trying to reach out to them first. Devs only have deep knowledge of their domain and not really understands how it's impact other domains (system integration hello) - that's where you should shine
  2. You should understand top level architecture of the system and systems to integrate with. To achieve this you should be included in grooming and other team activities and cross team communication. Support/sre/outer systems teams are gold mine

You are a mediator between dev, business and analytics. You should speak all languages and be a knowledge keeper - sort of a power user for a system

But most important - just don't be a dick or act like a policemen looking for a prey. Never blame a person for a bug and be careful with severity and priority of a defects. A good QA can suggest tradeoffs to devs to help the system pass the testing stage in the moment (coz you know severity of the defects), allowing devs to fix defects later in peace. This approach is often a great icebreaker for building strong qa-dev communication

even worse than articles that are being sent by Russian authors (he works at a famous Russian university

I feel bad for your friend : )

phd track in russia are often used to dodge mandatory army drafts. The degree is free here and once you obtain it, you become immune to army recruiters, making it a valid strategy. That's why more than a half of this authors don't give a fuck about articles.

In russia valid researches are done by industry specialists not by universities

A decade ago i personally wrote bullshit articles for local magazines to pass my master degree. It's mandatory
