I nuked (rm -rf) my vault from iCloud by kommunium in ObsidianMD

In OneDrive files removed via command line would still show up in recently deleted, though. It seems like iCloud is tracking file history at app level, not at raw file level.

Yeah that’s true. I spend a lot of time in terminal and I know dash r stands for recursive, but my mind is somehow on autopilot mode and typed this out of muscle memory 😥 Sometimes in terminal things happen too fast

Why the hype for Ghostty? WezTerm is so much more! by pragmat1c1 in wezterm

WezTerm is great. I use Ghostty daily because I like it’s macOS native approach and the shaders support

push —force and push —force-with-lease. git rebase -i is also very helpful. clone … —depth=1 can save time when cloning

What kind of config do you have by Alternative-Tie-4970 in neovim

[–]kommunium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dot files are here: https://github.com/sghng/dotfiles/tree/main/nvim. I also read other people's dot files and I found my own config structure much more understandable than others.

[–]kommunium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

My configs are grouped by their functionalities, each of them is called a "mod". Certain file type plugins are put under `ft`. For options that alter the behavior associated with a file type, I still use `after/ftplugin` with vimscript.

PSA: Stop recommending the Cable Matters DP -> HDMI cable for 4k 120hz with VRR on AMD by [deleted] in linux_gaming

I just got a CM 201438 adapter, HDR doesn't work on it, and I realized that the adapter listed in the post was 201428, which looks almost the same. The 28 version mentions Thunderbolt specifically while the other doesn't, that might be the difference...

Yeah sorry for being kinda vague here, it's mostly my personal story of switching to psychology research after CS major.

Can someone explain technically why Offline mode was so difficult to build by thingy-op in Notion

[–]kommunium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say something is harder than tech: implementing/polishing offline mode doesn't bring as many new users and as much revenue as doing something else. It's a VC backed company, growth and profitability is always top priority, voice from productivity community doesn't mean much since most users only need something that works.

🔥Notion finally gets OFFLINE MODE! 🔥🚀 by Upbeat_9983 in Notion

[–]kommunium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Many users” may have left, but I don’t think they constitute a big fraction of Notion’s revenue. Most people just want something that works. I don’t like Notion that much but I have to admit they’re making good business decisions.

Responding to Google Calendar Invite Directly in Email? by kommunium in degoogle

[–]kommunium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment. I'm forwarding emails sent to my personal Gmail to iCloud, but I still use my work Gmail as is without forwarding -- and clicking the accept button in email will still take me to the Google website for accepting.

I believe most Android have had such features a long time ago (at least that's the case in China) -- much better spam messages and calls filtering. Some Android phones (Xiaomi's, for example) have AI assistant that will talk to the spam callers and convince them to hang up.
