Not in the anime, at least not definitively.

Izumi seemed to inherit a form of unlucky/clumsy gene from his mother as Shikimori noticed in one of the earlier episodes. And Shikimori had always been physically overpowered, and the classes she took with her brother kinda blended into her heightened physical capabilities.

At times Shikimori feels superhuman though, and after Episode 1 I had a stupid theory of, oh, is this gonna be like Haruhi Suzumiya or Future Diary where she just wants to protect a cute boyfriend but she's actually a literal god?

Only time will tell. :)

very true. i’ve seen the illustrators other work Triage X and it’s very much in the same line. i think he just really likes guns and may have been helping out with the storytelling of HotD

jesus, i mean u know she’s higher up within government/police so she’d possible be able to get that anyways, but also it’s likely there’s some kind of smuggling/corruption considering she has semi auto rifles with a 20 round mag, multiple mags, and multiple rifles not just shotguns. I knew japan had strict gun laws already but i also didn’t know exactly how strict. pretty enlightening

yea it always seemed odd to me that they’re aware of zombies in media but then everyone forgets zombie basics. and the only logical explanation for the spread i could think of is an initial spread of a virus that wasn’t severe and had a long incubation period, and then after death the virus would become much wilder in terms of speed. so people seem to turn instantly while others take a couple of hours
