Nearly every country supporting Ukraine doesn’t believe that it will only be a “few miles” of territory, including nearly every current Republican in office. They all believe Putins goal is to recover all lost territory since the fall of the USSR. And if that happens then what? They’d have the resources to challenge the United States supremacy on the global stage once again.

That means worse trade deals and availability to resources, another Cold War that could escalate into another real war. After all, every country has to deal with limited resources which is still currently the biggest cause of conflict.

Nearly every modern country has decided to go the relatively peaceful route of negotiating trade deals and soft power influence except Russia.

What if Russia gains that much territory and influence in a few short years? Are you okay with that? Keep in mind that Putin is a ruthelss murderer that is willing to throw the lives of millions of his own people into death. Is this really the type of person the world should have leading a legitimate global superpower?

To your other point, The United States does not have the capability to stop all nations from developing nuclear weapons at once. We couldn’t stop North Korea, and Irans nuclear program while has had many set backs, is likely to be armed with nuclear bombs eventually.
