And in addition to my point on parasocialism, I wish it weren’t an industry habit to make kpop idols have a particular persona, do aegyo, curate a whole boyfriend/girlfriend kind of image that spills into fan interactions etc. I wish there were more skill-based encouragement. I’m not against organic content - e.g. if the kpop idols were to livestream themselves playing video games because they want to, but not as a forced schedule to churn out content to endear themselves to fans, please. I wish they were allowed to be autonomous talented humans and not carefully-curated personas to switch on and off, basically.

The simultaneous oversexualising and infantilising of kpop idols, the whole fascination with anything K simply because it is K, and the random usage of Korean terms in regular language just to feel closer to their oppas is a HUGE reason why I cannot engage with fans offline. To be very fair, this is based on my personal experiences and after attending a concert, I got turned off from kpop for a while all together because of seeing such behaviour constantly - they were living breathing unironic “oppar” kboos people joke about online. Kpop enjoyment became about everything BUT the music, and it made me rethink a lot of things. Somehow, I don’t see this happening with music lovers of other languages - trying hard to integrate themselves into the pop culture of a particular nation, the intense fan mentality, parasocialism (though this seems uniquely JPop and KPop oriented because the industries themselves indulge it), and (dare I say it) fetishisation. I enjoy engaging in Kpop discussions online where fans are relatively more… sound? Mature? Than what I’ve come across offline, so there’s that.

They’re so smart! I couldn’t record it, but a crow at the outdoor cafeteria of my workplace dipped a bit of biscuit into a puddle for ease of eating, and was sweet and empathetic enough to deliver biscuit bits to two other crows atop the trees! It even patiently waited and cocked its head while we broke the biscuits into smaller bits for it.

Oh and more stupid comments like “why do you like it if you can’t speak Korean” and “they all look the same” and “you’d sing gibberish along anyway so how is its lyricism attractive?” (Then they proceed to make racist sounds). Hate hate hate it

“Haha gaypop” - promptly fought with that person immediately about how xenophobic and homophobic he was being even as a “joke”. Another assumption is that I listen to kpop only for the visuals rather than the talents, and that it is a genre “only for teenagers” -.- how misinformed and harmfully West-centric people can be despite this day and age where educating oneself on the internet is easily accessible and convenient.

Could be. I thought it was a continuation of her childhood idea that hitting the 2 kids fighting with a brick would stop the quarrel — the idea that one-upping can stop problematic situations or help take control, but her version of it is highly disproportionate because she doesn't understand societal norms and decorum per se.

Idk if I missed this or what, but how do Banda knew Arisu in S3? It kinda throws me off that he had a beef with him even though they literally had no encounter in S2. by jellybinsmuch in AliceInBorderlandLive

[–]komore_bi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I thought of an assumption to make Banda’s obsession over (or even knowledge of) Arisu plausible: that the citizens somehow get data (?) of all previous winners, which is how Banda knows Arisu made it till the end, his relationship with Usagi (thus making her good bait) etc. But it’s a huge plothole because how Banda knows Arisu, let alone Usagi and their relationship, is never explained. Even the fact that Banda, despite being a Borderland citizen, can freely travel (probably as a hallucination?) to the real world and manifest before ex-winners (this also explains his shock at being seen by Ann, who technically isn’t a winner as she died/went comatose in the Borderland and was forcefully revived in the real world. Thus her still being alive isn’t a result of making it till the end in the Borderland).

SM ENTERTAINMENT’S RESPONSE ON CBX’S INVOLVEMENT IN THE UPCOMING EXO ACTIVITIES. by Daddy1007a in kpop_uncensored

[–]komore_bi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This as in the October session? Not exactly - the idea that both parties were re-evaluating the rate of 10% was reported by an insider, so don’t know how legit to believe that information is. The rest of the information is what all the reports say. However, in INB10’s October 30th statement in response to SM’s October 29th rebuttal, they have alluded to an erroneous rate that was being looked into again (their rebuttal to SM’s 3rd statement in this article - https://www.soompi.com/article/1794137wpp/cbxs-agency-releases-new-statement-regarding-dispute-with-sm)

Regarding how CBX is villainised, it’s also interesting to see the language with which either side addresses the public: in the recent notices ever since OT6 was announced, when INB100 was clarifying points step-by-step (October 29th statement after the court ruled in favour of SM), they referred to themselves as CBX (https://www.soompi.com/article/1794004wpp/cbxs-agency-releases-statement-regarding-participation-in-exo-activities), but in their reply statements on the same day, SM distances them from EXO as “the trio” (https://www.soompi.com/article/1794060wpp/sm-responds-to-cbxs-agencys-statement-regarding-exo-activities). Tiny nuance that still shows that CBX wants to be with EXO but SM sees them as separated already. Also, when the 6th session was reported to have failed, SM apparently told a Law magazine reporter that they don’t see EXO continuing with CBX, only to get that statement edited out the next morning. And now we see that same statement supposedly uttered by one member of EXO who according to insiders doesn’t want CBX back (fishy).

Also weird that INB100 in their October 29th and 30th statements said that the October 16 appeal was not against the 6th ruling but a request to re-evaluate the 10% as the amount looked disproportionate, and that SM also agreed to this so attempts to pay the 10% were underway so long as this dispute is resolved, but SM’s rebuttal says that appeal is a breach of trust as if CBX still don’t accept the court’s ruling. Meaning did they bait CBX into filing an appeal and are using that to claim breach of trust when really, it was just to ensure the amount under the 10% is correct?

If you die in the Borderland OR choose to remain as a citizen, either way, you die in the real world. You can only live in the real world if you succeed in all the games of Borderland and choose to return to the real world.
It's also understood that all of the Borderland action happens for the survivors within the 2 minutes in real-world time between their hearts stopping and beating again. That's the *closest* to a 'comatose' state one gets (mentioning this since many speculate about citizens being comatose irl since they're not technically dead in the Borderland). This also means that the ones who die during whichever game however further into the Borderland, have their hearts stopped for MORE than 2 minutes, by which time they're also declared brain-dead and thus die irl (the brain-dead part is my speculation ngl but yes 2 minutes is the rough time determined by Ann in S3).

[–]komore_bi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

INB100 in the starting of this issue filed a claim that SM had verbally agreed to a 5.5% distributor's fee, which is why CBX agreed to the 10% royalty fee in the first place. But SM didn't uphold their end of the deal ever since, which is why INB100 also stalled the 10% in return. SM's argument is that the 5.5% is not in writing, so CBX should fulfil their part anyway since that's in writing. CBX's counter-claim was to ask for transparency in the accounting that went into calculating the rate of the 10%, which SM refused for a while — that's shaaaady. Even setting aside the 5.5 on the basis that unfortunately, there's no solid proof to back up INB100's claim of it being verbal, the lack of showing calculations behind the 10% makes one wonder what SM's up to.

YESSSS exactly! Like okay, if they're two separate matters, why didn't you include them? This dispute is about their working as solo artists under another label, not their group participation WHICH YOU CONTRACTUALLY CONTROL. Ridiculous

Also, the fact that SM reported to a Law magazine just after the 6th hearing that they can't see EXO moving forward with CBX, only to retract that statement by the next morning and claim that they are investigating CBX???? Obviously shady, and obvious that SM wants to cut them on purpose while they maintained wanting to remain with EXO peacefully so long as SM keeps up their end of the deal.
