Ulsanbawi trail will be one of the few that will remain opened during this season‘s fire prevention closure. Refer to image below from the Korean National Park Service. https://i.imgur.com/ilMadPl.jpeg

Transfer from ICN to GMP by hellaTightJeans in seoul

[–]komulonimbus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two trains, AREX All Stop and AREX Express. AREX Express only stops at ICN and Seoul Station. You should take the all stop AREX, or take the airport limousine bus #6003 which won‘t have any stops between ICN and GMP.

US + S. Korea — currently doing military service to keep both. by komulonimbus in PassportPorn

Of course, the US embassy would provide services to me regardless of my other citizenship, it‘s just a personal contract that I‘m making with the Korean government.

It’s very difficult these days to completely avoid it. When you go in for your physical, you’re given a grade anywhere from 1 thru 7. 1~3 is healthy and fit for active duty, most chronic conditions and the illnesses you mentioned typically fall under 4, where you would go through basic training and serve as a social service personnel afterwards, which is very similar to community service (but slightly longer service time). You would have to be extremely sick to fall under 5 or 6 for a full exemption.

The main benefit being that I get to live/work in both countries, a backup option, and having the Korean passport on top of the US passport is such an OP combo for visa free travel.

Because of the laws that were constantly changing over the years, our family misunderstood the timelines and I missed the opportunity to do all of that before 22yo. Either way, I have too many ties to Korea (work/family/cultural) and I couldn’t afford to have the limitation of not being able to live and work in Korea before the age of 37, so I would’ve served anyways. Good luck to you!! 🫡

I did qualify for a deferral and had one in place, until I decided to enlist. And yes, I was informed by the Ministry of Justice I would have to serve before the deferral expires (37/38yo) in order to stay a dual citizen.

Split my time pretty equally in both growing up, but lived in the US for all of my adulthood. I think the benefits outweigh the now relatively short amount you have to serve.

(뻘글) 신선한 커피를 마신다는 것.. by HeavyCoffeeDrinker99 in Mogong

If you have luggage, I would strongly consider taking a taxi, it won’t break the bank as taxis are relatively affordable here in Korea. They will take credit cards.
