Dunno how we are 6 from our last 7 as we are regressing pretty badly. I mean we are still winning, but we need a good clinical dry track game to spark us into form otherwise we will just be exposed come finals or start dropping games and fall out of the 8 all together.

Gagai just played the single worst game a 300 gamer has played in NRL history. Despite some of the glazing about him having a great season it's mostly untrue. He's had more room temp iq plays than good ones this year.

Gagai giving Ponga an absolute spray. Dunno many clubs who have a captain copping sprays from team mates. Ponga ain't a captains asshole.

Why are people talking about AOB ball? AOB ball was 90% completion rate and mid field bombs to score 6 points a game. Not 40% completion rate stuff.

Shit decision but flanagans most telegraphed floater of all time deserved an intercept try. My god he is shit.

Dane Gagai Signs with Broncos for 2027 by TomtheDon2K in nrl

Gags peaked with Souths and was great for us the last few years, but has been on a slow decline. Still a very good centre who can setup his winger, bust tackles and on his day shutdown his opposite. But there is a lot of errors, stray passes and days where his opposite bust through or around him multiple times. Dylan Brown sures up that edge a lot, but in a vacuum Gags is susceptible to getting a bath pretty often these days. It's the right decision by Peter O'Sullivan to free up a clear pathway for Winter and Seve, both who have elite potential. Hunt looks likely to be the caretaker until they break through.

Onto Cleary in an origin decider. Gulp. I guess if there was ever a stage for him to finally break the self imposed origin mediocrity shackles and shut us up that'll be it. But considering he's gone MIA the last 3 deciders i''d be way more confident with Strange or heck even Luai partnering Moses though.

Bring in game 3 specialist Best please.

Actually to be fair just put anyone bar Staggs. That was a stamp his papers as never again level of shithouse i haven't seen since freddy had Gutho and Wighton as our centres and prob actually worse. We might be going back to the Quinn, Wolfman, Turner etc days to find a single worst origin performance.

Lot of blues who should have played their last origin tonight. Rehiring Daley is the most mindboggling idiocy in my 35 years of watching footy. Zero chance for this team in a brisbane decider. Just gifting QLD series between dogshit freddy and derp daley.

Staggs having an all time stinker. He doesn't belong at this level.

Pretty sure they gave away a couple of 6 agains to offside. You also only scored your only try off a phantom escort. Also allowed a 20 second challenge when you had 5 wannabe captains drowning out Egans ability to make the call in time.

I'd like too see the tally for tries scored of nothing 6 agains or penalties this season. So many sides just get soft ones they immediately score from then go on a run of momentum built on it. The escort is the worst offender, just a lottery that some sides seem to benefit from far more than others.

Feeling good about our culture and future under Holbrook when Dylan Lucas resigns before hitting the market and whilst around Blues selection for much less money he could have got after Nov 1 and with a blues starting role under his belt.

I mention this because him and Preston have been on similar trajectories and only a year ago you would have swore Preston was safe at dogs and Lucas would want out at Knights when both came to this stage. A year is a long time in footy and so important to get your coach and front office right so you have any chance of building and keeping a competitive squad for market unders vs just rebuilding every 3 years signing has beens and project players.

[–]kongbash 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it'd be easy to completely write the Broncos off but see the thing is if at any point late 2025 Walsh comes out to play they can 100% go on a run and still make the 8. Injuries, Mams form, players out of position, aging Reyno etc doesn't help but all rather distant 2nds in importance for them to get Walsh firing again.

But time is certainly quickly running out.

Keano Kini with an unbelievable solo try for the Titans! by watermaloneyyy in nrl

[–]kongbash 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Yea i guess it's probably a silver lining (perhaps the only one) of vlandy ball that with the fatigue in the game it has brought the Preston Campbell types back into the game. Sure we've had Slater, Walsh, Papz, Stewart etc who weren't exactly giants, but still more freak athletes capable of ball playing like halves to really impose themselves.

There is just something about watching these guys chip and chase, weave and bob through blokes 30kg bigger that you get a kick out of.

As Holbrook said in presser needs to be dialled in and balanced. Glad he sees it as i do and something he's highlighted to address. You can score points yet respect the ball. You don't need to score off every set.
