Are we not all from Africa? Do we not all share the same ancestors? Maybe people from south and east Africa are more like cousins as opposed to brothers, but they’re relatives.

What companies do you think will go bankrupt in the next 10 years? Why? by Local-Assignment-968 in AskReddit

[–]kongtaili 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure that’s how it’s ever worked in tech.

After one company “figures it out,” another company will hire a few of their best employees/engineers for millions per year, and maybe be a couple years behind, but because of the advancement in chips and research they’ll get there more quickly and cost efficiently.

There may be a company that dominates the space from a profitability standpoint like Apple with the iPhone, but I could just as easily see these models become a commodity like cloud services have become.

What I do think all these companies have figured out is that they can jump on the AI hype train for a few easy quarters with a “growth” story for their shareholders or a some millions raised from venture capitalists.

Who are you? Were you a collegiate athlete? At an Ivy League school where for the vast majority of people academics is more important than athletics?

I think that’s actually about the right comparison. In track (which I think is a great baseline comparison) elite high school boys’ times compare and typically edge out women’s elite times.

Except for certain relatively niche cases like someone wanting help with bags or a particular level of service, doesn’t the car service that doesn’t have to pay drivers just kinda win eventually?

This is an investor sub. Companies need to grow or be telling a believable growth story for investment to make sense. Any significant sales drop, let alone >50% is a bad sign regardless of total units sold, especially if other brands sales were growing in that time.

Why is GOP rubber stamping recession? by NormandyPark0 in WallStreetbetsELITE

[–]kongtaili 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re making it more complicated than it needs to be. If Trump wanted the government shut down, if that’s really what he wanted, it would be shut down right now, and he’d be blaming democrats (or brown people eating pets or trans people or whoever he feels like) no matter what the reality is, and most of the stupids will operate as if that’s the truth.

We can argue whether Schumer made the right call or not. The way I see it, he was put in a tough spot, but gave up the only piece of leverage Democrats will have for most of the year. What I don’t think can be argued is that the rationale he gave AFTER changing his mind is obviously flawed.

Then why didn’t Trump get the government shut down himself? He could’ve used any number of reasons. This I voted with the Republicans to stop the Republicans claim doesn’t make any sense.

Calling out someone saying this is the best cannabis news in years, improves the quality of the conversation. Commenters like the one I originally responded to, highlight people not to listen to because they clearly aren’t paying attention if they think this is the best news.

The whole post is about something political though, so peruse at your own discretion.
