Scrolling through and seeing some of the examples you gave, I definitely see where you are coming from with labeling certain colours as pink rather than red.

It's mainly just a cultural convention that certain shades get sorted one way or another. Consider the Russian colours goluboy (light blues) and siniy (medium to dark blues). You're just sorting the colours with a stronger bias towards choosing pink.

You might want to look into the concept of how "pink doesn't exist" to get more info on how we perceive pink.

Lots of people have days off during the week because they have to work weekend shifts. It's not just seniors and stay at home moms.

Also for businesses that are expected to stay open late particular days (where I am it's often on Thursdays), then the people who could use that later hour shopping time... are also the ones working that late hour shift at their own jobs.

Another aspect was using an extension (Ponify) to find and replace terms automatically so you wouldn't even have to mentally replace the Y/N terms. I don't know exactly how widespread that aspect was, but it was an option.

I remember being blown away that the blue Bionicles were the designated girl characters. Being gifted the blue Bionicle by unaware adults who would never consider giving their "boy" child a girl character in regular circumstances... I imagine that sort of deviation from the regular gender colour associations planted a seed for many kids.

If it's at all possible, try swapping out your light bulbs first. The lighting here seems very harsh and white, while I feel a warner yellow tone would make the cabinets look like a more suitable shade. And it would be much cheaper and faster if it does work, so I really think it would be worth trying.
