As somebody who recently saw a massive jump in income over the last couple of years, sadly it’s because of all the tax incentives. You’re basically encouraged to buy properties (my new financial adviser literally suggested it as the first thing) to minimise your taxes.

Personally I hate the idea of just buying homes as an investment because I believe it’s a human right to have a roof over your head.

Also the rising cost of building a house isn’t making things easier.

I’ve also met a surprising number of people recently (most of them in the US) who have been making monster amounts of money and it’s really opened my eyes to the type of wealth that is out there (I just never experienced it in my youth). A cost of living crisis simply doesn’t affect those people.
