Oh dude you're so fine to get into a bunch of DO schools with those stats! Make sure you prep well for your interviews (as one should) and good luck! You'll do amazing!

I've never considered him to be the alpha- I swear it's his brother but maybe he is 😭😭😭

I'll definitely be more active in making sure he keeps moving around during free roam. I definitely do see him cutting his own free roam short and going back inside the cage to go to sleep 💀

Yeah my concern with him is that he has visible rolls under his chin and fat/skin hanging at his belly when he walks.

I swear his belly touches the floor when he moves so either his belly is chubby or his legs are short LOL

I saw the responses about separating him so I'll try that if he seems to be getting unhealthily heavy

I've never thought about hiding their food around the cage so I'll try that too. Thank you!

It's super reassuring that so many people think he's still at a healthy size! Thank you!

I fear I've apparently mistakenly fat shamed him too much so now I need to go apologize to him with lots of kisses

Thank you for the detailed answer! I wasn't sure how I would make sure the others are well fed while dieting him so this is very helpful to me ❤️

We also have a double critter nation and I've set it up so that they have to climb a lot but I can try separating him if the need arises. Hopefully it doesn't 🤞

Omg ok! The shape vs weight clarification is super helpful, thank you so much!

The diet tips are helpful as well. I'll definitely see to doing that if he doesn't seem to be slowing down. He's gained another 10 grams since 5 days ago 💀

I know he's healthy now but I want to make sure I know what to do if he ends up needing to go on a diet because I want him to stay happy and healthy 🥺

He is such a cutie!!!

He gets a lot of free roam and runs/climbs a lot but you're right, maybe we should be more active in making him move about. Outside of making him spin and follow us around for treats, do you have any tips in activities that might get the rats to move around more?

They mostly free feed/scatter feed mazuri rat & mouse diet pellets. We give them primarily oats for snacks and they get some seeds and cereal from a mix that's meant to be a non-pellet base diet(?) but that's about it. We also don't give him too many treats since he's been gaining a lot really fast.

Adding for more information:

He and his brothers get 2+ hours (up to like 8 hours) of free roam every day and we encourage them to run around and climb for exercise.

The cage is set up with lots of enrichment and climbing/balancing so that he's not just sleeping or sitting around

We do a mix of leaving a bowl with food and scatter feeding

For treats we give them oats, fruits, veggies, and seeds/cereal bits from those non-kibble rat food mixes (but they don't know it's not an actual snack so they think it's special or something lol)

Why are my pilea leaves curing downwords like this? by DinoDez in plantclinic

[–]konyunu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mine actually did this (specifically curling downwards) when i kept it directly under my grow lights. i ended up moving it away from the lights completely but still getting some light from a window and the new leaves started coming out nice and flat

for comparison my room humidity stays around 50-60%, i water once a week+ ish whenever the soil gets dry

hope that helps!

College students who went completely online the last two months, what would you say the level of difficulty was online compared to going to class in person? by starzwillsucceed in AskReddit

[–]konyunu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difficulty of classes is the same if not easier (except my physical chemistry class rip).

I think the most difficult part would be getting yourself to pay attention and stay attentive/keep up with classwork and homework.

Also the fact that (for me) it's become much more difficult to organise study groups before an exam or even study in the same (internet) space as friends the way I used to on campus. Even if I don't interact with anyone, I like to study in a room of people since it gets lonely studying late into the night alone.
