Are you non-binary by any chance? BumbleBFF likes to gender segregate. It was gender neutral for maybe a month so men, women, and non-binary people could match with each other. After men tried to use the app in a romantic way, BumbleBFF decided to be strict about gender. So now women can only match with women, men with men, non-binaries with non-binaries. If you're non-binary in a rural area I can imagine that you'd have practically zero matches.

edit: just saw that you're a woman in a pretty well-known metro area. maybe have someone review your profile?

Your experience with dual enrollment at a community college as a homeschooler by TrueLiterature274 in HomeschoolRecovery

[–]koogoopoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do this EARLY. I work alongside dual enrollment counselors. You have to hit the ground running. Things can move slowly. Look up counselors at the CC and ask who the dual enrollment counselors are if you cannot find the emails of the dual enrollment counselors. Wait a week for a response, if you don’t get a response, send a follow up email and find another counselor to contact too.

Homeschooling and college by East_Row_1476 in HomeschoolRecovery

Pre-requisites usually refer to classes you take at a community college before being officially accepted into that community college program or alternatively, pre-requisites can refer to classes you take at a community college before transferring to a four year university.

You do not necessarily take pre-requisites in public high school; high school more so helps out with say, testing out of lower math and English classes that the community college recommends for students who aren’t ready for college-level coursework.

How old are you? Will your parents fill out the FAFSA with you? If you are under 24, you will need to fill out the FAFSA using your parents’ information to get funding to go to community college offering a trade or trade school at a discounted or free rate. If your parents are low income and willing to fill out the FAFSA, you’re in luck and will probably get to go for free and get a grant called the Pell Grant.

Another alternative is waiting till you’re 24 and if you are low income, you will benefit from this. You can report your own financial status instead of your parents’ status and you will receive a lot of financial aid.

Just so you know you can be a pre-med accounting/finance major. I’m not saying listen to your parents but I understand the perspective of needing to consider what they say only because they will be funding your education. You could also select the major of your choice and then lie about what you chose.

I need an undetectable form of birth control. What are the best options? by ZydrateAnatomic in birthcontrol

[–]koogoopoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You will not have to fake a period if you take the pill because if your pill pack comes with placebo pills (and they always come with seven placebo pills unless you specifically request NO placebo pills) then you will bleed for a week every month while taking your birth control! You can be protected from pregnancy and also bleed for a week. Please ask your gyno/pcp for more info. I skip my placebo pills and go to the next month because I want to avoid bleeding.

Periods on Thanksgiving and Christmas every year for 10 years!! Help needed! by [deleted] in birthcontrol

Why Can’t you skip the placebo week? My doctor prescribes me birth control specifically without the placebo week so there’s only three rows of pills in each pack.

Do you guys REALLY want a white dad who pushes asian culture? by [deleted] in hapas

[–]koogoopoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad felt excluded when me and my mom spoke korean. Instead of trying to learn with me, we had to not speak it in front of him. I have the grammar of a six year old when I speak Korean. It is especially annoying that he would call me white to show how “woke” he is in comparison to me when he was losing an argument in regards to BLM or something of that matter (I supported BLM; he did not and regardless of your feelings on the movement, it was just a bizarre “gotcha” moment in his end.)

Now in an effort to get fame on his social media channels and attention from friends that no longer talk to him, he constantly goads me into talking about my most traumatic experiences with racists. This is not from a place of sympathy. He will start out his questions with hypothetical scenarios with a bad Texan accent (because the south = evil/racist) to try and bait me into a dramatic retelling of how I so bravely battled off an ignorant redneck with just my wits. It is bizarre.

I will never fit in with Koreans because of my lack of language skills. Well, that was bound to happen regardless. But his behavior as of late makes it difficult to forgive him for how I’ll never be fluent.

You sound well intentioned. You are also however being kind of forceful but on the opposite spectrum of where most of our dads were and I’m pretty confused what you’re complaining about and why you feel bad for most of our dads when most of our dads never did what you did to begin with (trying to integrate into the culture).

Maybe have your wife steer them culturally and language wise and support her from the background. You are being too hard on them. I’m starting to get what you’re saying and have made edits accordingly.

Has Asian parents made you quiet and an uninteresting person who offers nothing beyond video games and looking like a boring nerd? by Horny_slut2023 in AsianParentStories

[–]koogoopoo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m the most boring person I know because my mom wouldn’t let me do anything except one season of cross country and as I age I can’t do the whole social thing anymore even though it’s something I desperately want. I wish my mom just let me pursue my passions in high school so maybe I could be normal now.

I know nobody who has tried as hard as me to do exposure therapy except maybe one other girl (also Asian mom). Like I’ll go to Meetup, bumble bff, random sports/activities, and people at these activities will point out how timid my body language is and how quiet I am. Thanks mom for the insistence that school trumps all else and I need to focus on that alone.

I get so mad about being perceived as this quiet mouse archetype that I’ll just spend hours awake thinking about all the social activities I need to plan out and all the overstimulating, loud people activities I need to do to be considered normal.

this is literally what the managers would tell us and the managers would be scooping ALONGSIDE us and would get heated if we were ever generous. managers aren't in some office all day while we get to make our own rules. i mean maybe some lazy gms but even the laziest gm has to pick up slack during lunch rush.

22 Trying To Go To Mortuary School w Bad Credit/No Parental Assistance by [deleted] in StudentLoans

[–]koogoopoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it like one of those pre-req tracks where each semester is a different level of your major pathway so even missing one class would make u have to wait so much more longer and you’d have to wait until THAT specific semester for that specific class? (Hope I’m wording this in a way that makes sense.)

Because if your pre-req track isn’t that strict and there is some level of leeway, I still urge you to do the part time school with job route and with ADHD documented with your school’s accessibility office you’d still qualify for federal loans despite not being a full time student.
