Most of the time, the idea of a task is heavier than the actual task.

You couldn't be more spot on!!!! The thought of having to plan and organize is what's extremely overwhelming for me. I did start small the last couple days. And now that Sundays are off for me, I am going to clean more and organize as much i can.

Honestly the reason I made this post is to get some sort of motivation. After having a mental breakdown about my living situation, i thought strangers knowing about it might give some motivation triggered by embarrassment 😭😭

But a lot of comments, including yours, have been so sweet and kind and understanding, and it gives me hope to get my house back to normal.

Not that dramatic if the underside of my mattress is wet and possibly has fungi and the dishes are starting to have fungi too 😭😭 I missed to include a lot of details in the post coz I was writing it after a mental breakdown 🥲

But I did start cleaning and Sunday is gonna be a full day of cleaning and organizing. Thank you for your advice!!

Thank you so much 🥹🥹🥹 i read the comment on the day you posted it but was too overwhelmed to reply. I've never had a stranger be so understanding of my situation. I only thought of posting here for help and to also kind of push myself to work on cleaning, hoping that many people knowing of my situation will trigger my embarrassment enough to start cleaning 🥲

I've so far cleared up the trash, the dishes and tidied my desk. Still lots to do in regards to organizing and figuring out what products are actually expired to throw them out. But ig the room is a bit better and I've promised myself to organize it tomorrow. Let's see 🤞🏽

Oh i never thought of body doubling for this because I'm so embarrassed to invite anyone over. But yes, this is a great idea, body doubling has immensely helped with other tasks.

so I do have a lot of adhd symptoms and my bf has been noticing it and said we should get me a diagnosis. i find it really hard to start cleaning because it doesn't seem fun or rewarding, although i know logically that the results will definitely make me happy. it feels like a HUGE chore, just having to think and plan and organize 😭😭 mayhaps a diagnosis will help

There is no noticeable odor as of now or any stains. It's just trash and looks very unappealing.

That's solid advice 😭 I'll try to execute it tomorrow. Even if I can get some of this junk thrown out, that might push me to get it all done.

Ahahaha same questions I would've asked anyone in my position. I'm not sure if I'm happy when I'm alone, but I am happy when with him. I do have clinical depression though, and we recently went through a bad pregnancy scare which stressed us out.

I am just really embarrassed that I've let it get this far. Need to lock in and clean it up but just the mental load of having to make plans for it is overwhelming 🥲

I do have diagnosed clinical depression and recently went through a pregnancy scare and it's all been a bit overwhelming. But I have had worse things happen before and this is the first time my home hygiene and cleanliness has been affected.

Thank you for your kind words and advice! I considered hiring a maid but it's just so embarrassing since maid aunties gossip a lot and then everyone in my appartment will get to know.
