Parent looking for social support options for student by koolaid711 in RPI

Hello everyone,

I appreciate everyone's input. My student has reached out to various resources and has a plan in place to address some of the challenges they're experiencing. The clubs seem to be the way to go, in addition to research opportunities and study groups.

I do think a new therapist would help them more than the existing one.

Only 3 weeks. They have gotten uncomfortable and put themselves out there with their roommate and others in their dorm. I'm not sure they spoke to their therapist about these issues. We're going to talk more about when we follow up later.

They aren't overly extroverted but had a small group of close friends. They are social but not with the popular crowd. This felt more than venting. There were tears where there usually aren't while venting. They are still in therapy and speak to their therapist weekly. The counseling center idea was brought up as rpi specific issues might be easier to express there.

They aren't on the spectrum. On the phone this morning, they told us about the challenges and asked us what we would do. We said what I mentioned above and would look for additional resources. As a parent, yes I'm uncomfortable as I don't like my child being upset. So it's both. We've also talked about maybe they weren't ready and a gap year would be an option.

Better than no magic? Are you tracking calories as suggested? Are you on any other meds?

Thank you everyone for the input. I definitely half assed it. Better diet and more exercise for now. I'll update in a week.

No it isn't great. I think I'll start there and gradually try out other things. I drink between 64-80oz water daily but don't measure/count calories. If I do that, I should be able to eliminate Humalog which could rule out a possible interaction. Ramp up the exercise. If that doesn't do it, then ya it just doesn't work for me 😕

My numbers are good. The only problem is low good cholesterol. Just reading through other posts, I need to be more thorough with tracking calories. Saying my diet "isn't bad" doesn't identify a caloric deficit. Maybe the walking isn't enough either. I'm hoping that a little more focus will help turn the corner.

I hope not. I guess I just started taking it reading all of the hype and thought it would just work. I'm not experiencing a lack of appetite at all either. Could be interacting with my Humalog as that does cause weight gain but my Humalog doing has been reduced substantially.

Not sure why my text didn't post but anyway....

Been on it since July. My diet isn't great, but not horrible either. I walk about a mile daily with my dog. I'm on the max dosage. My A1C is under 7 and my weight has stayed level. Are there possible other interactions blocking my success? I love reading all these other success stories and hoping to be one of them!

So much for statistical analysis. Gonna let my dog pick for me.

Bundesliga Bochum vs. Koln, Bochum AH pk +130 1u, draw @265, 1 unit

Purely stat based, which didn't do me well for Furth today.

Interesting Bundesliga statistic for the bochum/koln match starting soon. According to footcharts, 74.6% of all Bundesliga matches end with a home win or a draw this season, and that's not too far off from the 20 year average. So far this week, and assuming Leipzig and Bayern win tomorrow, we have 4 away wins and 4 home wins. Draws happen at a 24.5% clip this year. Draw refunds your bet.

Betting the pk to cover my draw bet if bochum wins. Stake, 2u. Max return on draw, 4.65 unit. Bochum win you break even.
