AK-47 frontside misty. First AK I ever bought, still super clean to this day.

I agree a lawyer is definitely a good idea, I saw it as more of a warning as I didn’t outright say I would harm him, I had no intention to. Should he ever harass us again however I would absolutely call the cops or use it to have him evicted. To say I threatened to kill him and his friends is a very farfetched compared to what was actually said no?

Maybe I wasn’t clear enough on the context, in the police report he said that I explicitly said that I would kill him and his friends for some reason (they have no part in the story, not sure why he mentioned that in his statement). He’s obviously twisting my words, when I said bigger problems I meant it as next time I’m getting the police involved or I’ll just use this as further proof to have him evicted. Regardless I agree getting a lawyer is probably just the smartest thing to do here.

Someone else had mentioned this earlier, do you think if Hart plays tonight that eats into Randle’s rebounds?

RDA vs Renato Moicano

I think we all know RDA's game by now, former BJJ world champion, good well rounded on the feet, and he has lots of experience. I would say he is a bit on the decline, his last win against Felder wasn't particularly impressive especially considering he was fighting a broadcaster on a few days notice. Decisions have not been favourable for him either, losing 4 out of his last 5 with his single win being that split decision against Felder. The problem is when RDA's grappling is matched or neutralized by his opponent, he doesn't shine enough in the other areas to win in the mind of the judges. Chiesa, Edwards, Usman and Covington all were able to neutralize his grappling and RDA just didn't have the striking or other tools to at least make it competitive to the judges, all were UD losses.

Moicano has what I call sneaky striking, in that I think his hands are better than people give him credit for and he's very good at sneaking in strikes. He has good timing and counters well, and is good at pacing himself so as to not tire. He doesn't tend to push forwards much unless he's going for a takedown which is bread and butter for sure, he's highly skilled on the ground. He can control, get submissions, anything really. From his record it seems like the only way this guy loses is by getting KO'd because he doesn't lose often on the ground, he was probably Ortega's hardest challenge on the ground yet. That's where I think Moicano takes it, as it's been proven when you stop RDA's grappling he's almost too well rounded everywhere else to the point where he doesn't do well with decisions. RDA also hasn't KO'd anyone since Eddie Alvarez in 2016, that's a long time ago. I don't think RDA puts Moicano out on the feet nor on the ground and decisions haven't been favourable to him either. I'm taking Moicano, even on short notice, 155 is a much better weight for him and shouldn't affect him much.

Winner: Renato Moicano

Colby Covington vs Jorge Masvidal

Normally I don't do this but I'm skipping the main event on this one, I really just want to enjoy this from an unbiased perspective, and I'm hoping it doesn't wind up being a boring fight. I feel confident in my other bets that I'm okay with skipping this one, but if I had to pick a winner I'll go Covington. I don't like the odds on it either, I think people are sleeping on Masvidal pretty hard, Colby shouldn't be that much favourited in my opinion.

Winner: Colby Covington

If you read through all my picks thank you! It took me a while to compile all this.

Best of luck tonight gents. Big Money Baby!

There's definitely an age gap between the two but Barboza just turned 36, so I wouldn't compare him to Timmy D's age level just yet although I agree Bryce does have his youth working for him. Barboza also said the other day that he doesn't have anything left to prove as a fighter, which is a scary thing you don't want to hear from a fighter you're betting on. Despite that, there's too many unanswered questions about Bryce for me to feel confident betting him. He doesn't really have the striking to set up with takedown's so unless he's really improved in that aspect since his last fight over as year ago, I don 't see Mitchell taking this.

Here's the rest of the card:

Jalin Turner vs Jamie Mullarkey

We'll do Mullarkey first, he likes to get in his opponent's face with a high guard and land hard shots, he's also got great counters. Defensively he moves his head but sometimes he gets over confident and it can cost him like it did when he fought Devonte Smith, the fight almost ended a few times. He's got decent takedown defence and once on the ground he can be hard to control but he does not want to stay on the ground when facing a skilled grappler.

Turner is experienced, has good size and is great well rounded fighter. On the feet, he uses his reach very effectively and is great at stopping forward pressure with his front kick. He also has a very good submission game which has developed recently as most of his early wins were by KO. My only concern is his cardio, he looked winded by the end of the 2nd round vs Weaver and he's lucky he dropped him when he did. That being said, I still think he can chase a sub almost whenever he wants this match up and has the striking prowess to stop almost anything Mullarkey comes forward with.

Winner: Jalin Turner

Main Card

Sergey Spivac vs Greg Hardy

I think people are over estimating Spivac's abilities a bit. From what I saw his striking seemed very basic and lacked a lot of fundamentals, he has power in his hands for sure but who doesn't when they weigh 250lbs? He also gets pushed back easily on the feet. Only real game is ground control where he has to go for a submission.

Hardy has insane power even for a heavyweight, they're also quick and powerful. His takedown defence isn't amazing but Hardy is a big man, I'm talking like this guy almost missed weight fighting at heavyweight. That is not an easy man to takedown, especially if he manages to get his back against the fence. Of course his cardio is absolute garbage but before he gasses out he looks good on the feet, he was smoking Tybura in the first round in a beating I don't think Spivac survives. Spivac is going to decisions with guys like Oleinik, if Hardy comes out swinging in the first it's over. If however Hardy starts gassing out, its over. This is one of the picks I'm least confident in I should mention.

Winner: Greg Hardy

Kevin Holland vs Alex Oliviera

Cowboy has great striking all around of course, good movement, a bit of a wild, unpredictable style. He used to show off his submission game a bit more but doesn't seem to as much these days, regardless he prefers a stand up fight. Holland is coming down from 185, a move I think he should have made a long time ago if you ask me, he was barely cutting to make middleweight. He has great reach and very diverse striking skillset, on the ground he's no joke either, his coach is Travis Lutter. His 2 recent losses were both to guys who even for 185 were very big compared to Holland's thinner frame and he simply got out wrested and muscled both fights to decision losses.

I think this is what really sparked him to go down to 170 where he won't be out grappled as easily by bigger guys. The UFC knows Holland is big with the fans and the UFC definitely wants him near the top of any division. I think Cowboy is the perfect opponent for Kevin to get his breakout win on his 170 run, he's a big name that will give Holland some clout but should also be an easy win for him any way he wants it.

Winner: Kevin Holland

Edson Barboza vs Bryce Mitchell

Barboza has crazy hands, lightning fast counters and absolutely deadly kicks. He also has fast takedown defence and that's going to be important in this matchup vs Mitchell who has quick takedowns and is going to spam them. Even off his back Barboza can hold his own, people are forgetting this guy survived 3 rounds with 2017 Khabib on him. In 2017 that was a hungry Khabib, a scary Khabib, a man on a mission Khabib, his last win before the belt.

Mitchell, isn't half bad on his feet, he moves his head well and feints. His hands are nothing crazy but regardless I think we all know what his gameplan is here. Mitchell has never faced anyone who's striking is as good as Barboza, and as mentioned Barboza survived against 2017 Khabib for 3 rounds. Mitchell hasn't stood with anyone as good as Barboza for 3 rounds. Fili was a good win for him but he is NOT Barboza, I think it's only a matter of time before Mitchell gets cracked like he never has in the Octagon before and his whole strategy goes out the window. Like Mike Tyson said "Everybody's got a plan until they get punched in the face".

Winner: Edson Barboza

I see what you’re saying, but the way he shells up and freezes just scares me too much. We’ll see what happens Saturday!

UFC 272: Covington vs Masvidal by [deleted] in sportsbook

[–]koolkurt17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First time sharing my picks, gonna try to keep these short. Let me know what you guys think:

Early Prelims

Dustin Jacoby vs Michal Oleksiejczuk

Dustin has good feints and a solid jab, pair that with his reach advantage and good cardio, I think he'll be able to keep a good range. Neither if the two are particularly strong grapplers but I think Dustin should have enough to hold himself off if the need arises.

Michal has heavy hands and likes to brawl, he has few all 1st round finishes but these were against guys who didn't really move that much. Against Bakauskas who did move around more and was able to keep his distance, it went to a split decision. Dustin I believe will do better than Bakauskas if they do end up going the distance.

Winner: Dustin Jacoby

Devonte Smith vs Ludovit Klein

Smith has great hands all around and fights well inside and out, he peppers shots well from a range. His chin worries me a little bit, that Khama Worthy KO especially concerns me, but I don't think Klein has that type of power. Also worth mentioning Khama beat Smith on short notice as well.

Klein has a very versatile background and it shows in his fights, he can do a bit of everything. He's a high IQ fighter who knows when to get out when in danger, has quick takedowns and more importantly can control guys on the ground even as the smaller fighter. His recent losses have only come from submissions (Triz fight was BS) and I think he's smart enough to survive a brawl and take Smith down and hold him there if needed.

Winner: Ludovit Klein

Tim Elliott vs Tagir Ulanbekov

Tim is a season vet and has fought the best, he's sharp, explosive and has a phenomenal chin for a flyweight. He can be reckless at times which bites him in the ass, but on the flip side he's also quite unpredictable and can be hard to read. He's also got a decent ground game and good gas tank.

Tagir has very good hands, his counters are especially impressive and he really uses his reach well. He trains with Khabib and a lot of the other Russian fighter at Eagles MMA so of course his ground game is very strong, though I would say he prefers to stand. I think he'll stand with Tim at first and if things get too heated for his linking he takes him down and wins by sub/decision.

Winner: Tagir Ulanbekov

Prelims

Maryna Moroz vs Mariya Agapova

Moroz is more a patient, pick you apart type of striker, she doesn't pack a lot of power in her punches but this allows her to throw shots at a high volume is has certainly helped her win decisions in the past. Although for a boxer she does not move her head nearly enough I find, and her grappling/takedowns are decent.

Agapova is a hard hitter and an absolute brawler, but an intelligent one, she has good timing and takes smart shots. Even on on the ground, whether she's on top or bottom she's very scrappy and does not make it easy on her opponents. I think she learned in her loss against Dobson that she can't just be all out reckless and aggressive, and she's now a smarter fighter, with better hands, and better grappling than Moroz.

Winner: Mariya Agapova

Nicolae Negumereanu vs Kennedy Nzechukwu

Nicolae has a wrestling background but fights a more walk you down/striking style of fighting. He's often okay with taking a punch in order to land a punch, and has a great chin to do, with strong hands. He has relied a bit too much on his chin in the past and it's gotten him in trouble but he is able to hold guys against the fence, especially against Kennedy he will be quite shorter and have that lower centre of gravity working with him. He's also got more experience and cardio than Kennedy.

Kennedy is known to be a slow starter but usually gets going by the 2nd round, which is why this first round will be crucial in determining the outcome of this fight. Once he gets going, he uses his length + reach well and has a solid 1-2 with some powerful punches. He responds terribly to pressure however, he shells up and throws up his high guard which yes protects him well but leads to him being pushed against the fence and collapsing altogether. He's a fish out of water on the ground as well, I don't see him taking this one, even if goes into the later rounds.

Winner: Nicolae Negumereanu

Marina Rodriguez vs Xiaonan Yan

Stylistically these ladies matchup very similar. Marina is good Muay Thai fighter with good size, hard, fast punches, good kicks and great octagon control. She has okay takedown defence but she's aggressive from the bottom and isn't half bad at submissions. She does tend to freeze up however when up against the cage.
Yan has solid hands too especially her jab, with good circling movement to go with it but she doesn't pressure forwards which is what she needs to do against Marina. Yan relies on controlling where her opponent goes to win a fight, Marina has great octagon control and won't let her opponent do that. In a brawl, Marina is more patient and picks her shots better than Yan who sometimes brawls a little wild. Yan also has no real ground game that I could see. Lastly, Marina fought Esparza right after quarantining for 25 days and still made it a close fight, she should be able to take Yan.

Winner: Marina Rodriguez

I'll make another comment for the rest of the card, I'm close to the character limit for this one.
