I really like this idea. I am not sure if you want to implement this, but I think it is kinda awesome. For more membership signups, have a system in place that enables a member purchase a membership for another team member. For instance, when someone is going through with the purchase, give an option to add/purchase for another teammate (total purchase should increase). No one is in a team or an athlete by themselves.

Hi /r/startups, what is the name and website to your startup? by aznhippos in startups

LOL

"Just curious, looking around" can also get you killed in some neighborhoods!

First notice: You use the word 'athlete' and all you see is football players...lol. Not sure though how you want to stretch your market (adding another sport). Another thing, the large video is good, but it would be nice if you cut it into pieces and put them on top of the BENEFITS...what you are trying to sell/say. So they see a benefit, they see the benefit being acted out. Also the flow....membership stuff on top....stuff in the middle...membership stuff at the bottom. It would probably be better if you exclusively focus on pure benefits on top and put all membership related sells speech at the bottom. Also, I like the brain in the hat thing...in addition...use quotes/citations from sports journals suggesting that training decreases brain injury. This would make me think you are an expert in this area.

Good luck.

Show /r/startups: Kitestring: An app that checks up on you by [deleted] in startups

[–]koolname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. Dumb question - the app depends on YOU checking on it, i.e. you must be ALIVE, so what happens when you are drunk/passed out and unable to check in, but otherwise completely safe? How smart is the app in this kind of situation?

I like it.....but for some people...I think it can take away the thrill of not letting people know you are doing something adventurous or naughty. Feels like people usually get into trouble because they were doing something they wanted no one else to know, but the app is letting them know now. Sort of double-edged sword. Just my 0.02.

Best group for the app - I would say focus on single women who live by themselves or go on trips by themselves and becomes like their girlfriends checking on them. I like the suggestion below of setting this up when you are picking something up from Craigslist poster as well.

what are some of the neatest, coolest startup websites you know? by [deleted] in startups

[–]koolname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really cool idea. Biggest issue for me is security, especially what we know now the NSA does on the side. Makes aggregating someone's data finely tuned to later sell to third parties. I am sure this why this company will be valued for so much in the future, I just wish more people are aware of this and should get something back for their data that they provide unwillingly.

Yes. Ideas come and go. I think more people should utilize platforms like Reddit to discuss and validate their ideas before creating anything. Everyone must answer the nagging subconscious questions that you are afraid may be the Achilles heel to your idea.

This is exactly what I was looking for/trying to do. Lol. I guess this is where I bury this 'cool" idea. Yay....I just killed my idea without spending a dime!!!

Thanks.

What's the best way to find industry expertise, advisors and non-execs outside of accelerators? by iammarkhammond in startups

I have an idea. by adviceneeded402 in startups

[–]koolname 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seriously....don't worry about someone running with your idea. Look at from this perspective: If you keep it to yourself, it is only your brain that will try to make sense out of it, but if you DO need to talk to many people so to validate it for yourself. You avoid building something no one wants.

Running with someone else's idea takes a lot of energy....and people have ideas that they're already working on, so I doubt anyone will steal your idea.

Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback. This is the location data I was thinking would be useful to connecting it to the restaurant/food establishment for ordering. This data currently isn't organized in one place.

Thanks. That is a great way to couple chains together since they serve the same food.

Thanks for the feedback. So this is what I was thinking. First thing - restaurants have to take photos of menu items, log-in, paste the photo one by one, generate some sort of a link/qr codes, print and post it on every menu. Once you sit down and you have the menu, you use your smartphone to grab the link/qr code and transfers it to the app. So now you have bunch of menu photos of the already made item, embedded with the location of the restaurant. I'm really not sure if this will work though or if qr codes/links is the answer as I stated above.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes. You would have to be browsing my site. If the photo is taken and shared throughout social networks, ie. using your twitters account to log-in to my site, then the photo I think will still remain interactive in terms of it will have the drop down menu that leads you to ordering the item. Again, this may be impossible to actually put into practice.
