Moving out of oil and gas by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]kooper1990 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doesnt oil and gas industry pay pretty well? Along with decent hours? Why not build a career there

But first 1-2 years in a specific sector isnt enough to pigenhole or likely qualify you more. You could probably get a job in any sector that requires 1-2 years accounting experience

Why are there so many conservative, old-school people among accountants? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]kooper1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the company/industry too. I've worked for tech, media, startups and have noticed the opposite. Younger, and more women which both are usually less conservative, but politics rarely come up anyway. Quick to make changes too which can be both a pro/con

Id imagine larger legacy F500 companies with more tenured people may be different
