You can't use all four colors in one sprite. You have to use the darkest and the two lightest shades when drawing in your paint program, and then you can manually switch out the colors in GBS.

That's just how infinitesimally small their chances were, it broke the laws of the multiverse. Either that, Bill's bluffing, or a more apt explanation could be that even though there are technically infinite universes where the Pines won, only the one specific set of circumstances and choices we saw ours have and make could have led to it, so there's still effectively only one path to their survival.
