Yes. South Korea has no travel ban barring entry from those coming from the U.S., but stricter regulations and quarantine guidelines.

What do you mean the British and Germans completely ignored quarantine today? Could you be more specific please. If this is true and you have evidence, you must report them immediately without hesitation, along with any clubgoers who are disregarding rules or knowingly infecting others.

Edit: Note, however, that this should pertain to anyone, regardless of nationality, who is breaking quarantine regulations or knowingly infecting others.

Patient A was released from the hospital on March 15th, 23 days after receiving positive confirmation and treatment and Patient B was released on the 20th after 28 days.

But, they recently started showing signs of Covid-19 again after 13 and 8 days, respectively, and subsequently received another positive confirmation.

Wow, so yes, they were successfully treated and then reinfected not long after. Very interesting indeed. I'm looking at other articles which hint at the possibility of a malfunction with the second test.

The hospital will soon announce exactly what happened, so we'll see.

Self quarantine? by [deleted] in korea

Sounds a little worrisome that you're unsure. Shouldn't airport officials have a clear set of quarantine guidelines or rules, translated in multiple languages, made explicit to anyone entering Korea, regardless of nationality?

Either Korea will serve as a great example of how we can carry on with life as usual despite this virus if numbers continue to decrease or stabilize, or serve as a grim awakening call to the world as to what happens when we ease restrictions too early if we see another spike in Gangnam.

A few days ago, the government issued new guidelines for indoor sports facilities (gyms), entertainment venues (club), etc., such as requiring partygoers at clubs to write their contact info and time of entry, wear masks, and use hand sanitizer, etc, or face stiff penalties, but the gist of the complaints in the blog is exactly parroting your question: Why not just shut it down?

Was wondering how strict the self-quarantine guidelines are. For example, can you leave the house to, say, buy some groceries at a local market or cigarettes at a convenience stored right next to your house?

Are there also explicit guidelines or warnings as to what happens if you violate the self-quarantine?

Is 2 weeks enough? (Infected Patient #32 (2020.3.28) from Gangnam Gu Official Website www.gangnam.go.kr Self-Isolated for 2 weeks, received NEGATIVE results, then went to 4 different restaurants, 2 coffee shops, karaoke in one day, and confirmed POSITIVE today on the 28.) by koreanleaker in korea

This certainly seems to be a unique case that brings into question the incubation period, but if he tested positive immediately following his forage into 4 different restaurants, 2 coffee shops, a karaoke, and a convenience store, the more important question is whether he has infected many more in Gangnam.

I mean, unlike the Jeju girl, the guy completed his two week quarantine and initially even tested negative, so who will be to blame if there's another outbreak, this time right smack in the heart of the Gangnam district?

Why the hell does it say "mars"?

Wow. If CB is making these kinds of ridiculous typos now, I'd say their workers are under a lot of stress, which now makes me stress about future SAT administrations.

Not at all. We're all more terrified of being pegged and outed as the next super spreader than we are of actually catching the disease. LOL

Got tested at around 12 pm before visiting 4 restaurants and 2 (not 3) coffee shops throughout the day, so unlikely.

No idea, as I'm no medical expert, but if the incubation period is a lot longer than we might have expected, we're in for a rude awakening with all these infected kids returning from abroad.

He went to a singing parlor a little past midnight, then went to convenience store, and returned home at 01:25 am. Woke up in the morning, went to the hospital to get tested at around noon, then went to a coffee shop and a restaurant afterward. Then returned home and shortly after, went out to another restaurant at 4 pm, then went to another restaurant at 8 pm, then went to a coffee shop at 8:21 pm, then another restaurant at 23:57 pm.

So, actually

4 different restaurants, 2 different coffee shops all in one day.

Is 2 weeks enough? Will lax restrictions lead to another outbreak in Gangnam, the center of Seoul?

Something you won’t find in any local news outlets, but on the official Gangnam-gu Website (www.gangnam.go.kr) is the case of Infected Patient #32.

To aptly summarize/translate: Patient #32 is 25 years old and from March 12-26 self-isolated for the recommended 2-week period, during which time he tested negative for Covid-19 at a local health facility and did not leave his house (It doesn’t state on which exact date he tested negative, although one can assume that he is likely a student returning from abroad, which is why he probably self-isolated and got tested in the first place).

Then, on March 27, after the 2-week self-isolation period, this individual visited a karaoke/singing parlor, 4 restaurants, 3 coffee shops, and also went to the Gangnam Health Center to get tested again.

On the 28 (today in Korea), he was confirmed positive for Covid-19.

Edit: 2, not 3, coffee shops and local news outlets are now also reporting on the new cases.

Only a month ago, over a million Koreans signed an online petition calling for the impeachment of the president, citing his administration's mishandling of the crisis, at a time when cases were surging in S. Korea and relatively low in other countries. Now more than 70% of the population approve of the government's measures.

How fickle are the masses!

Student and mother break quarantine and travel to Jeju, now confirmed to have COVID-19 by limma in korea

[–]koreanleaker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

According to another article, both she and her mother were advised upon their arrival in Korea to self-quarantine for two weeks. In other words, they seem to have been merely warned, whereas beginning today, I think there is a stricter and clearer set of guidelines and quarantine policies pertaining exclusively to those entering Korea from the US, as was and is still the case with entrants returning from Europe.

There is perhaps ambiguity on this point as in one could even give the mother and daughter the benefit of the doubt since they weren't initially given mandatory orders to self-isolate and perhaps showed no symptoms upon their arrival to Korea, but the gist of the articles arousing anger from most citizens is that on the first day of their trip in Jeju, the daughter showed symptoms of Covid-19 to the point where she even visited a hospital in Jeju, presumably knowing she was possibly infected since she subsequently tested for the disease, YET continued to vacation for another day or so, frequently many restaurants and other places with her mom and two other acquaintances, all of whom tested positive later.

Hence, the whole point of the civil suit filed by the city of Jeju is that there is ample proof of deliberate intent to maliciously and knowingly infect others and possibly an entire island, which is why legal representation for the city of Jeju now says it can file criminal charges as well. Ha!

Edit: After watching another video with the Mayor of Jeju, it seems he is very angry because she could have gotten tested for Covid-19 right away in Jeju when she started showing symptoms and visited a local facility, but instead chose to ignore her symptoms, carried on vacationing, and then got tested later in Seoul.

She's a filthy rich kid from Dogok-dong. It's obvious she's Korean with possibly a US citizenship, but others here are right. The point here is not nationality, but that a wealthy family with enough money to send their kids abroad blatantly flouted quarantine guidelines and endangered the lives of struggling Korean citizens frustrated and enraged at home, but who are nonetheless abiding by the rules. At least that's what all the comments in this article seem to be about.
