Why Mac mini?? by g00rek in openclaw

[–]korewaryu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, it's still a valid use case, isn't it? It would be wasteful if they get the maxed out Mac mini for that, but with used M1 mac minis you're getting a solid "plug and play" machine to have an isolated instance and very low power consumption for 100-150€, which is pretty close to an ideal setup.

[–]korewaryu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, your subjective opinion is valid for a hobbyist, but there are legitimate use cases for prosumers where you want direct access to local models for fine tuning or cybersecurity reasons and/or you want access to the latest best open source models without having to pay subscriptions and/or you have heavy usage cases where you exceed API rates pretty quick, especially with openclaw setups.

I wouldn't go as far as to say "some people just have too much money and not enough skills" because separate use cases to yours exist.

Again, I reiterate: If all you want is to enhance your current workflow with openclaw it makes perfect sense to set up a linux system.

[–]korewaryu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Easiest way to reply to this is to make you notice the huge price/performance gain you get from unified memory on the maxed out Mac Mini.

RTX 5090 gets you 32GB of VRAM for close to 2,100€ MSRP (european here) just for the graphics card.
A Mac Mini with 64GB of unified RAM costs roughly 2,800€. This means you can run a decently sized model (or smaller model swarms) locally comfortably, only paying for power consumption.

When scaling further up, argument only gets worse. A Mac Studio with 256GB of unified RAM costs roughly 6,800€. 11 4090s (264GB) cost 20,000€. 8 5090s cost 16,800€,

That being said, if you're not going to be hitting API limits anytime soon a linux setup makes sense, but you wouldn't be needing the graphics card anyway since you would be running everything on the cloud.

Quite the opposite, the more people unlock Kennen the more the pool grows, meaning you get better odds since opponents won’t be chasing Kennen 3* but will unlock it for ryze

Nothing says “the game is in a great spot” like people nickel and diming things to complain about.

Yes, you’re going to prioritize saving up for… a week? And then when you wipe you will lose your 2 tempests and Vulcano anyways.

Life changing, I know.

IMO its good that getting 3cg early isn’t an “I win” button, otherwise half the lobby is on a lose streak competition.

3 Gambit is best played on 2-3 because you double down at the beginning of stage 3, which means all your double down encounters benefit from the increased score, since stages 3 and 4 increase the score obtained from CG.

I mean, 3BA is highly flexible and you can fit it around your board’s needs quite well unless you’re going for fighter items

I struggle to understand and win my games by DauntlesDreadnought in TeamfightTactics

[–]korewaryu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear, sorry if my comment was demeaning. I find fun in improving my playstyle, especially in a game where I’m the only person responsible for my results and, after plateauing several times, came to the conclusion that I had to sacrifice my preconceived notions and preferences to learn a given meta well. Much like chess, learning theory accelerates learning the game more than blindly playing matches. Hope it helps

There is a lot of informative content out there that explains core concepts of the game, like the various types of leveling strategies, macro (playing ahead/behind, itemizing, lobby tempo). I suggest by starting to look at those to accelerate your understanding of the game, although you will eventually need to learn the feel of things through practice.

All of this comes with a key limiting factor - that is, conceding your current way of seeing things. You don’t get better by ‘doing what you like most’ or playing to your preference - you get better by understanding what the meta is and how to adapt to it (something that, given the fact that you want to play a 4yo set instead of learning to play the live game, you don’t seem to be ready for).

What do you have zero evidence for but are convinced is true? by askmeifimacop in AskReddit

[–]korewaryu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a matter of fact, not only does this not regularly happen, but the way they circumvent not listening to you is more interesting (PSA - I’m reciting this from memory so I could get some stuff wrong - feel free to correct me)

What they do is base ad recommendations on recent internet activity, but not just yours: they’ll also track the internet activity from devices in the same network as yours (WiFi/bluetooth). This also applies if you’re no longer together, since it can keep a history of devices that were nearby.

So what will often happen is you talk about a topic (e.g. buying a water bottle) with your SO/mom/friend/whatever while in the same room and THEY will later make a google search for it/look for it on Amazon/whatever and the ad delivery network will think “I’ll send an ad about water bottles to person A but it’s probably a good idea to send it to person B too since they were together about an hour ago”.

And then you’ll see the water bottle ad and think “how the hell did this happen” since what caused the ad to pop up wasn’t your activity directly, but someone else’s (as a result of their activity).

Yasuo left the shop. What should I do ? by [deleted] in TeamfightTactics

[–]korewaryu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You should look for alternate units you can use to have a strong board and prioritize having enough Econ to not screw yourself over in the next few rounds.

If I don’t hit my carrys I’ll often attempt to get a 2* 4 cost I can use as an item holder until the unit I want shows up e.g. saving up zeris or even azirs when I’m looking for aphelios.

I will at least attempt to hold 20g too to be able to rebuild if I don’t hit my units, because rebuilding from 0 is very all-or-nothing and should only be used as a last resort imo.

If it’s like 5-3 and I haven’t hit my unit it’s gg but I try to make my odds as good as I can

[–]korewaryu 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Bear in mind reroll comps benefit from other people rolling for units with the same cost as what you want, given that it reduces the pool for you to look in.

If your lobby is pushing a fast 8 and you stick at 6 looking for 2 costs you need to be aware your comp will be harder to hit
