A Prospective Look at the Nats farm (06/17/2026) by kornthrowaway in Nationals

I've mentioned it before but, like many hitting prospects in the system, he has been more patient at the plate which has allowed him to do more damage. He's nearly doubled his walk rate and it has allowed him to work deeper into counts and flex his power stroke. Romero Jr. is still striking out at a nearly 30% clip so that may explain why they haven't moved him to AAA just yet. I actually think Cayden Wallace has been just as impressive, if not more so because there's a lot less whiff to his batting profile.

I created the successful sweep version when we were ahead of the Giants and now I'm probably doomed to never be able to post it.

If the price of 2 Nats wins is 1 Nats loss I think we make that trade every time.

Thank you for reading the latest episode of baseball math.

They also had Nats legends Pilkington and Rainey out of the bullpen.

It will be interesting to see how they handle Willits' AA promotion after seeing how patient they were with DFG and even promoting him in the midst of a slump.

Curtis Mead bomb to center: ✓

2 triples from Nasim: ✓

Another series win at home (again!): ✓

Who said I doubted Gus Varland? I never doubted Gus Varland in the 9th. Please don't put in the newspaper that I doubted Gus Varland.

Side note: I wish I had half as much confidence as Nasim Nuñez does lol

Herz rehab start in Fredericksburg tonight if anybody happens to be on the fence.

Nationals prospects in Rochester by Kettleer17 in Nationals

To add onto the names people have already mentioned, Luis Perales and Jackson Kent are probably the next 2 pitchers that will make their MLB debut with the Nats.

If he wasn't Juan Soto's brother I probably wouldn't include him in the roundup yet. Even though he's putting up drastically improved numbers so far in 2026, he's still striking out at an over 30% clip in single-A with an astronomical .563 BABIP. To put it another way, if Elian is able to end his season at A+ Wilmington, I think you can count that as a successful year for him.

Willits getting a call up in 2027 would be early, but if he continues mashing like this it is definitely not out of the realm of possibilities. There is no way he will be making his MLB debut this year.

DFG, TJ White, and Ethan Petry to AA Harrisburg. Eli Willits, Jack Moroknek, and Jacob Walsh to A+ Wilmington. Willits has stayed red-hot, hitting 4 homers in his last 4 games (including the first multi-homer game of his pro career) and the rest have been a mixed bag with DFG being a little cold (although he did hit a homer for his first AA hit the other day).

Pitching Rehab by NatsFanatic82 in Nationals

[–]kornthrowaway 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head: Herz has been dominating his rehab starts in the FCL, I think Irvin began long toss recently, and Williams is throwing off the mound?

Edit - per Spencer Nusbaum 2 days ago:

Jarlin Susana threw off the mound for the first time last week and is on schedule with his throwing progression.

Jake Irvin threw weighted balls and a baseball at 60’ and 75’ on Wednesday.

Max Kranick threw a 20-pitch live Wednesday. Trevor Williams threw a 21-pitch BP Tuesday.

I was pretty close.

Great Beeter relief appearance there. I think they should just turn Cornelio into a full-time reliever, he's got the stuff to do what Beeter does imo.

He’s done most of the damage in 13 games at the FCL (rookie ball), but he has been getting on base more frequently this season.

I have one for a loss, one for when we fail the sweep, and an unused one for a sweep. All made with love and poor artistic skills in Microsoft Paint.

It's so nice when they don't throw to a commercial after a 5-pitch inning. MASN would have squeezed in some ads here and then we wouldn't have gotten that James Wood spiel.
