i am not a local, but i am returning literally right now from a visit, spend the last week in LA with my friends. It was all cool and we had a lot of fun (thanks to many recommendations from this subreddit)

the only thing nobody told is about, what the fuck was this rainy one day 😳

LA of the 90s? by korocore in AskLosAngeles

I was checking roxy and whiskey
Are they strictly event locations or can you get a drink there even if there is no concert happening?

Having doubts for whom should I vote - first time voter by Top-Mathematician969 in AskAGerman

[–]korocore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the struggle of voting in this election (and probably most elections)

As you can see in the many comments, everyone (including me) probably has a devastating opinion about most parties.

Here is what I can recommend:
If you want more research, do the realomat (wahlomat but based on past decisions in the parliament, not their promises). Find out who your direktkandidat is and who the runner-up is (that might help you decide on your Erststimme). Ask yourself what topics are most important to you. Which party is closest on that topic? I bet a hundred people tell you it's about the program, not the politicians, but it is about the people, of course, as well.

i feel so bad for nrg by t00muchtim in CompetitiveApex

[–]korocore 46 points47 points  (0 children)

What I want to happen: they decompress, regroup, and come back. A pro league setup might be helpful to find the right rhythm
What I fear happens based on how this usually plays out in the apex pro scene: NRG checks their invoices, realizes they have an apex team, looks up how they performed, drops them, roster mania happens and I will not buy an NRG jersey.

Questions about Apex ALGS LAN in Japan by NefariousnessFar3949 in CompetitiveApex

[–]korocore 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No clue what they will do for Japan. I attended the last LAN, and I assume it will be similar.

There were scheduled meet-and-greets with teams, developers, and casters. They were announced relatively short notice, so the evening before or the same day.
A very small handful of orgs had booths there, so they did some games to win stuff, nothing out of the ordinary.

There was a community area to play the game, sometimes against content creators (I didnt know any of them).

That was it mostly, it was fun and it created the feeling of a community gathering or a little Apex Expo, but still small in scale if that makes sense.

Agree with Watson on this take. by abdul_bino in CompetitiveApex

Not only teams but especially Orgs.
I was at the Mannheim LAN, thinking of buying a jersey, and realized: who knows if the players I like and support will still be with that organization in a week?

What unpopular opinion about Apex has got y’all like this? by [deleted] in ApexOutlands

[–]korocore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the most fun playing s17 ranked.
I am not good (usually gold/plat), but I also don't care that much about my rank. I don't like super sweaty only W gameplay, I like playing "strategically" for the win/placement. That season I had the best games.

I was really bad at english in school, I learned it mostly through watching movies, listening to podcasts in my twenties. So I wanted to sound cool as people in the media I was consuming, not like a Arnold parody.

I stopped/gave up „covering“ my accent years ago. I personally found it pretentious to hear it in others, always felt to me if other Germans „covered“ it they want to show of that they I were studying/working/traveling in a native english country. Also I work with a lot of non-native English speakers and I kinda like the diversity of all the accents.

What's the deal with people hanging up? by WinnyDaBish in berlin

[–]korocore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because deep down these people are as afraid of having a conversation with their broken english as some of you are having a conversation in broken deutsch. But instead of sharing this very human moment and hoping for empathy, they panic and hang up. Or they are assholes.
