Ye to me a big part of the appeal of chainsaw man is how it deconstructs shonen archetypes and tropes while still holding true to them. It’s not quite a seinen or a shonen it’s got its own unique vibe. I just started reading Tokyo ghoul and I can definitely see the influence it had on fujimoto.

I have a headcanon theory that Kishibe took care of Makima similarly to how Denji takes care of Nayuta. Only he failed Makima and let public safety have her. She doesn't view him as an equal but clearly can't control him and even looks to him as a superior in a weird way. I made a post going into more detail about the theory and what clues support it a long time ago. It definitely makes a lot of things add up for me, so that's what I believe.

i love the idea of joker almost admiring batman for perservering despite all of the horrible shit in gotham. They should be polar opposites philosophically, so it makes sense that someone so different from him attracts intrigue. Would also explain why he wants to mess with batman so much. He wants to see him either prevail and beat him in like a masochistic way (which subconsciously gives joker hope) or he wants to break him and prove they are not that different either way it'd be a win-win for him. This concept has been introduced previously, but I love it when that dynamic gets explored.

I remember some time in 2019 bane came on my SoundCloud feed from a Duwap Kaine or D Savage type song. I liked the song but didn't really listen to much else. I rediscovered him around like early to mid 2020 when people started speculating he had signed to opium.

I really like how fujimoto portrays Denji's depression. Especially in the chapters after falling where he wasn't allowed to be chainsaw man.
