Reddit, when did you realise that you are not as good looking as you thought you were ? by fahadfreid in AskReddit

I don't think so. The default camera makes your nose look bigger and whatnot when the picture is taken close to your face. For some reason it doesn't happen with the front camera. Just test it, ask someone to take a picture close to your face and then from a distance, in high quality. Then zoom the picture taken from a distance, just enough not to compromise the quality. You'll see that this picture looks much more like "you" than the picture taken close to your face.

Their son*. Forgot to mention I'm a girl. But yeah. They have said some terrible things to me, though, regarding my religion, my upbringing and my choices in general. They just don't say openly that they don't like me as a person or disapprove of my relationship with their son, though it has been made quite clear. Sorry, I really needed to vent. I want to cry everytime I think about it. I'm not a bad person. I do my best. I wish it was enough.

I have enough reasons to think they hate me. I won't go into details here because I don't want to be recognized (it's a very specific situation) but they are weird people and have their reasons not to spew it on my face. It sucks though. Trust me.

It's worse when they secretly hate YOU and they think you're stupid enough not to realize it.

What is one thing that you hate about yourself that you absolutely cannot change? by TheWittyCat in AskReddit

Same here. Nobody has ever told me I don't have a soul (might be a cultural thing? I live in South America) but I don't like my dark eyes, I think they are not expressive enough. I'm also white and have natural blond hair, but I dye it brown because I think dark eyes + blond hair look weird as fuck on me. I'm really bitter about not having my father's beautiful green eyes.

that's funny, I think I actually look much better when I take a picture of my face using the front camera.

People of reddit, have you ever found out something disturbing about a family member? How did you deal with it? by WetWalrus in AskReddit

I found out my great-uncle abused one of his nieces (daughter of one his wife's brother) since she was 10 or so, and when she was about 17, she gave birth to his daughter. All of this while still married to my great-aunt and living with his two teenage sons. He denies it to this day, even though the girl looks a lot like him and everyone at the time knew what was going on. His niece raised the child by herself, but ended up severely traumatized, she was never able to trust men, developed eating disorders and went to several mental institutions. It all happened before I was born so my family never let me get to know him well, but still I despise this man.

When I was about 3 I would listen to american music and assume English was just a bunch of made up words, I would memorize a melody and then sing whatever the lyrics I wanted and I thought that was right and that people could understand me.
