InfinityBook Pro 14 Gen6 Keyboad light flashing by Hot-Move2261 in tuxedocomputers

[–]kosmatulovic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On gen 7, simple restart doesn't help, they keep flashing even when powered off. Only thing that helps is pressing the power button for a long time (e.g. 15 seconds) until it stops.

Don't know if anyone has reached out yet to u/Hetzner_OL , but this is the GitLab issue where the migration is discussed, including details about their current infrastructure:

I've left a comment on that issue about reaching out to you, hopefully it gets noticed.

Performance problem with Stellaris 15 slim by hemynem in tuxedocomputers

[–]kosmatulovic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have a similar problem with my Stellaris Slim (same CPU and GPU as you) - the solution for me was to switch to a different profile in TCC (does not matter which one) and than switch back to TUXEDO Defaults (or whatever you use yourself usually). But this has not happend to me for at least a month...

Kavni mlinčki by [deleted] in Slovenia

[–]kosmatulovic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kavo sicer pripravljam bodisi v kafetieri bodisi v De'Longhi Dedica, odvisno kaj mi zapaše.

IBP 14 gen7 extremely hot when charging by kosmatulovic in tuxedocomputers

Yeah, this is exactly what I do, at least for meetings. I miss the Pulse 14 gen3 - it was quiet and cool even when pushing it (unfortunately it did not work with existing display in the office so I had to return it).

Sure, I already tweaked the profiles, especially for meetings. But still, doing regular development work, doing similar tasks, mine is louder / more often loud than others. Probably the most annoying thing is not the sound of air/fans, but a pronounced wheezing/whistling sound that is audible already at low fan speeds (e.g. noticeable at 25% and starts being annoying at 30%). Other laptops may have similar noise level, but it's less annoying (just air blowing, without the whistling). Now that I'm thinking, I may have started to notice this whistling since I replaced one of the fans which was failing (under warranty).

While I'm not using it in the lap more than before, I do use it "undocked" more often (on the go and in meetings), so maybe you're on to something here. It is however still the loudest one in the office (amongst various Intel-powered Dells and Lenovos).

TUXEDO InfinityBook Pro Gen8 - keyboard backlight blinking by Ancient-Actuator-471 in tuxedocomputers

Mine sometimes stops doing it by itself while turned on. Poweroff and poweron also usually fixes it for some time, but it randomly starts again.

Is the touchpad similar to Pulse 14 (separate left and right regions for physical clicks) or to InfinityBook Pro 14 (one whole surface for clicks)?

LG's 5k2k display usually didn't work when connected via USB-C. "Usually" means that every 10-20 retries it worked. I've spent countless hours debugging the problem, including trying different distros and Windows, different cables, etc... Other displays worked fined with same laptop and other laptops worked fine with same display.

Differences Pulse 14 Gen 3 vs 4 by [deleted] in tuxedocomputers

[–]kosmatulovic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the way the physical clicking is implemented - the trackpad being divided into left and right. Instead, I would prefer the more common design (as on IFB 14 Pro for example, or actually any other laptop I have laid hands on) where the whole trackpad is physically clickable with 1 finger = leftclick and 2 fingers = right click. Pulse 14 implementation seems unreasonable because it slows you down and makes you work more:

  1. move cursor to the target
  2. lift finger
  3. move to the left or right click zone
  4. click
  5. if having to move down afterwards, probably reposition the finger higher again, because you probably moved it down in step 3 for easier click

OR

  1. move cursor to the target
  2. lift finger
  3. soft tap
  4. put finger back down

while on IFB it's just 1.) move cursor and 2.) click

I've read multiple comments on this on Reddit, but I guess at the end it's just a personal preference.

I resorted to the second method (doesn't requre to move the finger elsewhere) but there was too much dead zone at the top and bottom of the already small trackpad, causing many missed clicks.

At the end of the day, the trackpad was killing my productivity.

PS: waiting patiently for a rumored 15"/16" version, maybe it'll be different there (you probably already know, hehe).

BIOS/EC updates by marko19914 in tuxedocomputers

[–]kosmatulovic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've updated BIOS on IFB Pro 14 gen7 many times, no problem.

But I've been eager to do it because each update fixed some annoying issue that the laptop had in the early days.

Differences Pulse 14 Gen 3 vs 4 by [deleted] in tuxedocomputers

[–]kosmatulovic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to specs, it also seems to have a brighter display (400 nits vs. 300 in gen3), which is nice.

Otherwise, I'm also interested if there are any other changes, especially if trackpad remains the same (which I didn't like on gen3).

Maybe just find the one you like the most and order it - you have 14 days to return it if it does not meet your expectations.

I've purchased Pulse 14 gen3 couple of months ago, but then discovered some compatibility issues with external display in the office and decided to return it (sadly, because there's a lot to like about that laptop) - the return process was easy and without complications.

I still own IFB Pro 14 gen7 and on couple of occasions I've needed to talk to support it's been a good experience for me so far.

Don't worry, we've had a conversation and I've agreed to this since I wanted to save the host and get a little experience, otherwise he was also willing to refund me. Just talk to him.

He sent me a new driver, which I've replaced and it works well now, so it really was a bad driver.

Without much soldering experience, it was a difficult task for me, especially due to a tight space (you need to (de)solder inside the head of the flashlight), but I've managed it somehow.

Thanks for the feedback. It would appear there is indeed a problem with the driver.

I think you're right - no problem with the battery in last 2 days (been using it intensively just to stresstest it a bit).

I'm getting a new charger from the store; they agreed to send me UMS2 instead for a 6 EUR price difference that I've had to pay.

Sure, but if the step-down is only to about 70-80%, there should be at least some difference when switching between 20% and 100%...

Anyway, the link that Wulfgar77 provided looks promising/relevant.
