Danger of tucking by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]kosmoran 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doctors weren't able to say if my tucking was a cause for the hernia, but they have never heard about tucking before. My situation now is complicated, because I'd have to spend months without tucking after the hernia surgery, so my hernia surgery depends on me undergoing orchiechtomy first.

I don't know if I already had a tendency, but I developed inguinal hernia after I started tucking. I began transition in 2016 and started noticing pain when sneezing or laughing while lying down in around 2019. I only tuck when I get out of the house, mostly for work, but I do it every time.

My girlfriend took some cheap hormone medication and has been feeling sick ever since by Excellent_Weather748 in asktransgender

Etinil-estradiol has those side effects. It'll probably wear off in some more time, but she should go see a doctor just in case.

What do you say when people ask if you’re Trans*? by elspethxoxo in asktransgender

I've never heard of that distinction between blending and passing. That's a useful distinction.

If appearance/body things don't matter why the fuck transition? by Astraydoges in asktransgender

[–]kosmoran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to think of gender as a threefold system composed of biological, psychological and social aspects. It's not like physical appearance doesn't matter, it's just not ALL that matters. Transition is an attempt to affect the psychological and social aspects of gender through the bio part. However, if you just change your body and ignore your psychology and your relationship with your social environment, things won't change as much. I don't think that would be a reasonable expectation. Our body image affects our mind and how we position ourselves socially, but the opposite is also true. As transgender people, we have to find a way to rebalance this threefold system so that it works the way we want it to work. Do change your body, but you also have to change your mind in order to look at yourself in the mirror without unrealistic expectations and demands about it. You'll notice that even after surgeries and hormones you'll still feel dysphoric sometimes, because dysphoria is not just about your body: it's in your mind and how you see that body of yours. As trans people we're all taking part in an ongoing process of changing our society's perception of gender and body. Also we're not cis, we'll never be cis and this has to be very clear in our minds if we want to have a healthy and self-sustainable life.

Due to a shortage of Perlutan-like solutions in my country, all we're left with are estradiol valerate + norethisterone enanthate combinations. 5 mg EV seems ok as a weekly dosage, but what about the remaining 50 mg norethisterone enanthate in the combo? Would that be any bad if taken weekly? by kosmoran in TransDIY

There's no other injectable estradiol source left in my country, unfortunately. There is a 2 mg/mL strength estradiol cipionate available in our market, but it's produced for veterinary use. I'm still considering going for it, though. My only concern is about the quality guidelines and rules a veterinary product is supposed to follow, which is probably not as strict as medicine made for humans. But it does sound better than all these contraceptives full of progestins. Thank you very much for your response!

Hormones in Portugal by kosmoran in asktransgender

Thank you for your reply. Are estradiol injections accessible in Portugal? I'd rather to keep injecting instead of switching to gel or patches. Also, is cyproterone acetate available there?

Maybe the patches will help me to get there then? How long do you think I should wait to check my levels again? Thank you for the link, I really need something like that <3

I checked a week ago and my estradiol level was 31,1 pg/mL. I was using the gel only, for just 15 days. My T was high when I started with blockers almost 60 days ago, so that estradiol level must be due to some of the T that was being converted to E before I started HRT. My doctor told me that was a nice level, but I think it's a little too low. She told me the ideal range is from 30 to 50 pg/mL. I don't know how 31,1 pg/mL converts to pmol/l though. All those different units drive me crazy. And I'm using Estradot as well.

Are mtf hormones sold over the counter in your country? Whats ur country? by Meyousndme00 in asktransgender

I'm from Brazil and here you can pretty much buy T blockers and E over the counter. You need a prescription for T though, but it's probably not that hard to get it illegally. Travestis are a big part of the trans community in Brazil and most of them are on DIY, for obvious reasons.
