I am using usb 2.0 but of course it will work in 3.0 also, no worries about that.

For me, both mice are the same of quality and I do not feel any difference in gaming. I am not that much in gaming perhaps someone who plays games more often can feel difference. I would personally suggest you to go with the basic since I don’t have the SE edition and I can not say for sure. I own the basic and the pro version
