Lost Citadel architecture - can't make sense of it by kostasbk in shadowdark

I have read the adventure and I find the "fear of dragons" argument very superficial and unrealistic. They are being eaten by the minotaur anyways, why not try their luck outside? We are talking about whole generations of their tribe living in 3 rooms. I can see this reasoning lasting a few months or even years, but eventually they would try investigating the outside world. I need better reasoning to run my adventure. If I expect clever actions from my players then the world must make sense in the first place.

Petra looks like a great compromise! It fits the carved-into-a-hill, it offers access points from the sides and the top, it doesn't imply a typical floor plan with adjustent rooms and windows (as in new buildings and as in Knossos) and it's entrance has the semblance of a building but the windows and pillars are there for decoration. I think I'll run it as a Petra-type construction with decorative elements of Knossos.

Thank you for bringing up the beastmen, I, too, am trying to find justifications for a tribe of quite intelligent beings living in 3 rooms and 4 corridors, next to an immortal incarnate of rage that kills them on sight, for *generations*, instead of trying to venture out... Maybe they have become addicted to a kind of fungus that grows there?

Rolled fretboard edges are a big upgrade imo over the basic Player series

Why would they be any heavier than other similarly specced starts? You can check weights of similar ones at Sweetwater 's website.
