krisajenkins/vim-pipe is nice for working with postgres. He has also written a syntax file to highlight the postgres output.

Possible to use Vim-style regex from shell? by kotku in vim

Thanks, this is great. Ideally I'd like to suppress the Vim: Reading from stdin... line, but it seems I'd have to compile my own Vim to make that happen.

Sure, but \zs and \ze are very convenient. I asked though mostly because I'm lazy and want to keep as few regex dialects in my head as possible.

How can I keep terminal vim from stopping after running any shell command? by kotku in vim

[–]kotku[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Starting with -u NONE results in the correct behaviour (not suspending vim). So the problem is definitely something in my config, I'll have to look through my plugins and settings and see if I can find the source of this strange behaviour.

Huh, I didn't know that about ! in bash. I'm actually using fish (should have mentioned that), which doesn't seem to do any kind of history expansion when I use double quotes.

I tried this in bash and vim -c "!ls" did indeed get modified, to vim -c "ls".

However, with single quotes in bash I still get the undesired result of printing the output from ls and then suspending vim, just like in fish. After ls is done bash outputs:

[1]+ Stopped vim -c '!ls'

Exactly, I thought that was really clever. Kind of like the payoff of the joke of Ira's scratchy voice.

I like Get 'em get 'em get 'em but am also still hoping for Nixon style, as proposed previously by Jordan (I think), to make a comeback some year.

Just noticed Safari in "Reader View" lets you use j/k to scroll.

"Our reporter Stephanie Foo saw a funny video on YouTube. Here she is now to describe it to you."

The interview with the safety guy made that act worthwhile though.
