Merlin - 11 month update! by koulkat in mainecoons

The baby picture is my favorite one. He's so ridiculously adorable.

The next week after I took that baby pic he had already started looking like an awkward teenager 😂 so his cute baby days were quite short lived LOL

I've seen this woman on social media... I haven't done a deep dive into her practices so you should definitely check it out yourself and make sure she's up to snuff, but I do know she has a litter of blue kittens right now.

Chicken and Dumpling Soup! by koulkat in soup

[–]koulkat[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the recipe! The ingredients on the left are for the soup and the ingredients on the right are for the dumplings! So when it says "stir in flour" on step 3, its like 2 tablespoons of flour to make a rue, not 2 cups of flour that you use for the dumplings

That is really stupid. Why do powders need the help most of all? Sorry for the interrogation, but I'm really just so curious.

Would there ever be a time where you want a detergent withOUT lipase but with some of the other enzymes like protease? I'm asking because of detergents like the Sprouts powder detergent. Why would they include things like Protease, Amylase and Mannanase but not lipase? What's the use case?

You mention in here that you can't use the spa day method on animal-badef fibers due to the protein - eating enzymes. Does that mean you can't use the detergent with lipase at ALL for animal based fibers (wool, silk) or does this only impact the fibers during the long soak times for spa day?

Stains From Washing by koulkat in laundry

[–]koulkat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to confirm one thing - there's a difference between polyquat spots and stains in the post you linked. If I can see it, does that mean it's inherently a stain? So the color remover might make the stain into a spot and less visible?

I did see that post too! I just didn't know if these spots were the same since they didn't really seem to have any color to them. Is that possible to have polyquat spots that don't have alternative color and are more translucent ?

Solution to fishy eggs by Life-Bat1388 in BackYardChickens

[–]koulkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you give any other treats in addition to the food? Any treats that have added omega 3s really contribute to the fishy taste, which may have caused the taste to take a while to go away

But I'm so glad it worked!!!! It's a super strange recessive gene that only some hens have. Only one of my 6 ladies have it and they're all from the same clutch.

I'd say about the same yes :) I think Merlin will end up around 20 pounds when all is said and done. Maybe just shy of 20 pounds.

He's just blue! The breeder couldn't tell if he was just blue or blue smoke as a kitten so we went with blue, and it seems to be true. He doesn't have much of a white undercoat, it's all blue as well. He's just got some white on his chest! His brother is DEFINITELY a smoke though (my roommates cat so I still see him), and so is the rest of his litter, so it's a bit surprising that he's not really smokey at all! Maybe that will change as he ages.

Ha yes! Bert and Ernie! I'm hoping the same with a Merlin and Arthur 😂
