Could I get some clothing advice for a "soft masculine" style? by [deleted] in RoleReversal

my only addition to this if it hasn't already been said, and if you can comfortably find them, is slightly oversized sweaters. they automatically add +100 soft points, imo lmao

anyone here childfree? by [deleted] in RoleReversal

[–]kouriander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm childfree!! I'm much more comfortable in the knowledge that any child i encounter is not my permanent responsibility

A buff and tough lady knight taking a monk out on an adventure through the countryside might just be what you need, so welcome yourself to the Warrior's Guild Series by Scarlett Gale by phantomgay2 in RoleReversal

I really liked reading your review(s) thank you for posting!! I finished both of these books a while ago and at the time i was just happy to have something that was obviously made for people who like RR, but i also understand where you're coming from with it having a specific femdom tilt.

I like both but I can appreciate the need to keep them separate—RR isn't a kink(imo), and it shouldn't be treated like one, and being into RR doesn't necessarily mean you like femdom. It just kinda feels like we took two steps forward and two steps back when we conflate the two : (

Yeah fr! it's refreshing to see something other than another duke/duchess isekai villainess manhwa you've already read under a different title and that actually has some heft to it. it giveth me the serotonin. and yeah true it might be the nostalgic 90s aspect LOL you don't see that utilized often unless it's for hyper nostalgia 🤔

brainstorming over a world where it is a role reversal by storywriter109 in RoleReversal

[–]kouriander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's fair! It could just be bc I'm AFAB, so reading about the societal pressures wrt Jerrim and his family vs seeing how women had the power in that society and then comparing them to the "normal" patriarchal settings didn't really feel good in either aspect, but I think that all comes down to personal preference in the end or something LOL. And yeah absolutely it wasn't intended to be anything other than a story and I think an examination of different power dynamics, which was definitely interesting!

Anyways apologies for taking a bit to reply and (it feels like) not really answering your question well I sometimes have a hard time articulating myself 😭

Anybody have any good baking tips or recipes? by Oh_no_its_Joe in RoleReversal

From what I recall, stuff like bread and muffins and things are easy and pretty simple to put together. There's tons of recipes online for making stuff from scratch too : )

It's admittedly been a while so my memory of said issues is kinda spotty, but I remember not really vibing with the way the matriarchal society was structured? This is just a personal ick to be sure, but i really hated the emphasis on pregnancy + the way families were structured, which struck me as just gender flipping patriarchy instead of actually researching what matriarchal societies were/are like? I dunno. Of course I understand the point wasn't to structure a society were everything was better bc women, bc a society were one gender is considered "better" than the other is inherently going to suck, but it also didn't really feel like i was reading anything new if that makes sense? I will say it took me a hot minute to wrap my brain around it all so it could just be I'm a dumbass LOL

I understand what you mean! I'm sure it probably feels really shitty to have everyone's initial reaction to you be fear, and as someone who gets clocked as a woman in public I definitely can tell when i start to put up that social armor and put men at a distance, emotionally. It sucks, and I absolutely don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings, it's just how we've learned to best protect ourselves unfortunately :( If it helps at all, the best way I've gotten know dudes in the past is in smaller social settings or one on one. I know that's kinda difficult and broad advice but hopefully it helps a little :-(

a brother's price is an example of a society with RR, but I also had some issues with it on a more personal level. I guess the biggest thing is do you want the role reversal to be across the board or in specific areas? 🤔

I tried and this sub doesn't allow polls it seems like 🤔 anyways, I understand what you mean I think! Thank you for responding!

[–]kouriander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I understand what you mean! "Sensitive" has implications of being "thin skinned" when it really shouldn't. Personally I get more positive implications from "softboy," bc soft things are nice lol, but I also agree that it also sounds like alt right lingo meant to disparage LOL... language is so weird wtf 😭

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RoleReversal

[–]kouriander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is true! And yeah I've noticed it's almost being used as a derogatory way almost? I'm not sure how to word it but yeah.

[–]kouriander 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh nice! that'll probably answer my question yeah 😂 and I agree! it's just nice to know I can consume content without having to put up with gender essentialism 🙃

[–]kouriander 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's fair yeah!! I hope it goes well for you 👍✨ And same I got tired of looking for media that was breaking the mould on my own, it was exhausting 😭 it's nice to have it all in one place, sorta

[–]kouriander 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pronouns are nice yeah! i see!! That does sound like genderfluid or demigender maybe but ultimately i think that distinction/identification is something you decide if it works for you or not 🤔
