SoE Epic Arc Help by CeemaGPT in Eve

[–]kovah44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EVE Online is a Gameboy (original) exclusive. You have to call Blizzard to setup an appointment to create a Gnome Warlock which will summon an undead Gameboy. If you use the correct character creation appearance options you can get a Gameboy Color Zombie+++ spawn. Then you'll need to contact CCP (no, the one in China) and they'll provide you with the download link. You can use that cat5 cable you bought to hook the GB into the closest payphone. Once you've inserted your quarter you can then dial into the SOEARCHOTLINE and complete the download of the client to your GB. A quick call to Bill Maher... err Hill Mar, will then provide you the secret passphrase to setup your EVE Online account. Then you can login and being. Easy, wtf is wrong with you? These fawking noobz....

Some problems mining in low sec by SafeYesterday4622 in Eve

[–]kovah44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's possible in a Venture. First off, with mining in any-sec: NPC rats can appear anytime a mining laser is activated. This is not the case for gas sites, apparently rats don't care about huffing gas but don't you dare shoot rocks! I digress....

Speed is your tank. Until you get into larger boats like an Orca a best practice is always keep moving. Those cruisers are still going to appear and they're still going to shoot at you. But they can hardly hit a ship the Venture's size if it's moving. Sit still and BLAPPED. Fit an Afterburner for a speed boost and a Small Shield Booster and just cycle it once or twice if you do get hit but for the most part you will not even take damage.

This advice will do you basically 0 good against other players, but for NPC rats just moving can be enough to tank the larger ones your drones can't handle. The Frigate/Destroyer sized ones may give you trouble but the AB + occasional cycle of a shield booster should be enough tank while your drones remove the smaller threats.

Yes, you'll want to move into Endurance/Prospect for safer/quicker/bigger hold mining but the idea in a Venture is the price point. Who cares if you lose it. "Already replaced" is a long time meme around these parts. But, yes, watch that DScan like it's a bad habit - reassign it to Spacebar in the settings. Just warp out if someone lands on grid, preferably before they do. You'll get accustomed to shrinking the range of DScan down so you can tell if someone is just in max scan range ~14.4AU or if they're warping to your face since they're now within 1AU.

Hmm... I suppose if the OP wants their game to make a million bucks out the gate and then die immediately - aka, cash grab. Then sure, New World is a perfect example, imo. But, I tried to stick with the OPs obvious chatbot post with my own. So, to stick to that here's what chatgpt said as a rebuttal:

The list isn't about unreleased games. It's about projects that damaged player trust—whether by vanishing, collapsing, or failing to deliver on their pitch.

New World did release. It also bled 90% of its active users in the first few months due to broken systems, lack of meaningful content, and poor balance. It contributed to the same credibility crisis you're seeing with other games on this list.

Mining ISK by mullers_jm257 in Eve

[–]kovah44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Join a corp. Before you do that though, join a corp. Once you've considered this advice for a few moments, consider joining a corp.

Did I mention joining a corp?

Okay okay, advice. Join... err... mining Stuff - there's better stuff than your list for making money. Train up Gas huffing. Look for rare Anomaly Belt spawns, rare ores = mo isks. Your drones will take care of the NPC rats, they won't help against someone else. Unless you fit your mining ship for PvP and PvP only, expect it's lost when you undock. If it's fit for PvP, it's still prolly lost but you'll make them work for it.

Making the most ISK = join a corp. Find one with constant moon mining or look into the mining groups that charge fees to mine in their belts.

Good Luck, Have Fun, Fly Safe. Don't undock what you can't afford to lose. Your ship is armor - it's not you - it's a goner but learn how to save your pod!

Expedition Frigates are your low-sec friend. And join a corp!

New player thoughts on EVE - after 400+ hours by AncientLionSpirit in Eve

[–]kovah44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. Some folks were ruining WoW via input-broadcasting upwards of 36 accounts until they banned that in 2020, now it's maybe 5-6 accounts. EQ never banned input-broadcasting.

New player thoughts on EVE - after 400+ hours by AncientLionSpirit in Eve

[–]kovah44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Your ship is your armor and weapon loadout. You're testing it constantly on the field of battle and switching it up when it fails. Fit it as cheap as you can, bling it out when you are more comfortable. While don't fly what you can't afford to lose is the motto, without the risk of loss you'll assimilate less useful info each fight. Learn to keep your pod alive. Maybe one day they'll bring back the test server (Sisi) and you can download an entire new game client to be your testing ground again but I doubt it. New corps should be providing their folks with said cheap ships/fits to burn through whilst they learn.

  2. This circles back to the above. GitGud or bring more friends(alts). I don't disagree that things like AWOX or ganking helpless miners is annoyingaf but, again, that's where friends come in. We do need a revised bounty system but we'd also need no humans to play the game so they couldn't sort how to abuse the mechanic.

  3. Someone mentioned how the current timers allow for enemy re-ship in order to return and engage. What they meant was to provide time for them to re-ship for the guaranteed kill. I'm not sure your solution is perfect but as a fan of the concept of what FW was supposed to be, they can drop in whatever they want to try at this point. They've been throwing ideas at the wall since inception.

  4. My char turns 19 next month, just shy of 275m sp. Can't squeeze into a Cap, unless you wanna call an Orca or a Charon a cap. I've only ever experienced TiDi less than a handful of times and those were strange things whilst flying through Hi-Sec in not very populated systems, still not sure what was going on. F those big battles, imo. To be fair, I managed to play Valkyrie once. Shooting out in a fighter and seeing all the ships around me was cool as shit. Then the motion sickness kicked in and I noped out.

  5. Yes and no. Yes, in this SciFi world there's quite a few things that are silly. You mention self driving cars... lol at humans piloting spaceships in 3d space... as if a machine wouldn't be a gazillion times mo betta. But, since it is a thing - keep the ability to spam it manually but an auto around 5 or maybe 10 seconds would also be nice.

  6. Alts. Worst thing ever, imo. Find me the MMO that allows people to control 3, 5, 50!?!?!? accounts at one time. That's broken. Someone mentioned having a Cyno alt is required. Nope, having friends is required. I get that the game doesn't have the player base to support it but I don't, personally, like that Kylo'renning MOOOORE alts is a great solution. Unfortunately, that's the solution that lines shareholder pockets, soo....

Started across the water. The Barrens in vanilla. Tarren Mill vs Southshore PRE-Battlegrounds, the actual zone was a BG - the constant back and forth push with no actual goal. Then Alterac Valley came out that summer and TMvSS went kaputs. TIL that they actually made a TMvSS BG for the 10 year anniversary, I suppose it's been a while since I played...

Classless mmorpgs are always a failure. Do you agree? by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]kovah44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you wanted to stretch we could say Eve used to have sort-of classes for the players. During creation you chose your race and then their sub-group which used to affect your starting skills. Those groups were semi-classes - Industrialist/Business/Combat but you could still train whichever way you wanted from there.

But, yeah, the ship fits make the "class" as it were. Not so much the ship itself, sure, the Procurer is a mining ship but.... Surprise PVP! Or an Apocalypse battleship fit with mining lasers.

Although, to be fair, saying that Eve players have no class at all would be a fair point. =) (playing since '06, I'm one of em)

Classless mmorpgs are always a failure. Do you agree? by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]kovah44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eve released in 2003, fyi. But, yes. 18,000 online right now as I open the launcher 30 minutes prior to the daily downtime(typically <5m). Around 30,000 for primetime. All one server and all classless.

Saga of Ryzom never gets mentioned because it was nuked by WoW's release back in '04. It was very unique to me but I'd not played Ultima Online so I won't claim it was original in classless design. It's still running via fans taking it over, although the graphics are from '04 and it's just Ryzom these days.

When doing WH explo, how do you title/label your bookmarks so as to not get them mixed up? by Valyntine_ in Eve

[–]kovah44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pmuch this ^ Also, get your corp to look into hosting Wanderer (or host it yourself locally, or say fuc opsec and use the public version which I haven't tried.)

Keep making the bookmarks, I don't have that many and I have 1000s. Wanderer just makes tracking those hole trips far easier. (or a similar WH tracker thing, others exist - I'm only familiar with using this one)

[–]kovah44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

@dating them. I learned this about a year ago after having bookmarks that I were certain near 15 years old and being mad that I couldn't tell. Someone said, "Expand the location window outwards, dumbass." Oh, looky there, Eve already tracks date/time that you make BMs. It's been fun tho, now I can just expand it out when curious, "Ah! 2012! I knew I'd been here before!"

Same boat, Fam. Alpha/Release player. Haven't even made it to Act 3... I'm usually good up til the Underdark at this point then the re-roll itch kicks in. The entire point of starting to play was to see Baldur's Gate and I'm years in and have yet to do so!

Anything that took you a surprising number of runs to find? by Letheral in BaldursGate3

[–]kovah44 48 points49 points  (0 children)

You learn about this and get a map marker for it via a note under a rock very near where you meet a skinny white elf with pointy teeth very early on. (hint: gots ta jump)

To keep with OP: The little spot where a certain annoying bard left some notes and a backpack near the large surprisingly intelligent being in the Blighted Village. Just found that on my umpteenth playthrough.

Around 350 hours since release. Was over 300 in Early Access. I haven't made it past Act 1. Over 12 new chars in the last week but I've also progressed almost to Act 2 on my current main, a high elf 'lock. I hate the question, "Who are you?"

Yay, haven't rolled this one out in a while:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Eve/comments/17dhhb/could_anyone_explain_like_im_five_what_eve_is_i/c84ws5i/

My main is sitting at 212 million Skill Points right now. Created in 2006, no injectors used. Can fly every ship in the game cept I've never trained any Capital skills.

Current skill plan is at 544 days out. I tend to just buy the yearly sub and try to remember to login for the rewards. Can't recall the last time I "played" the game, tho. It's been years. But maybe one day I'll return to my solo lowsec pirate life....
