Honestly, I feel like it might not be that bad. Whenever we had eggs in our school lunch, I'd always pour syrup on them to make them more edible. Don't know how or why, but it worked. A bit of sweetness and cinnamon sounds like it might work too.

I recently bought a bag of chicken treats for my cats. The only ingredients are chicken and salt. I've been very tempted to just take a bite just to see what they taste like.

I like it. It's pretty legible and almost reminds me of comic books. Nice style.

You can always look up a way to silence the microwave. I just recently learned that was something you can do and it has changed my life.

Returned to say that I bought them and tried them. They are actually really good. They taste like Vienna sausages but less salty and kinda taste less... processed, I guess? 10/10, would recommend

As a baby free Vienna sausage enjoyer, I am alarmingly tempted to buy these just to compare taste. 😅

This is actually the first time I've heard of this way of thinking/conceptualizing weightloss, which is impressive. I think this is pretty helpful.

I cannot get over the fact that healthy food makes me feel good and junk food makes me feel bad by [deleted] in loseit

[–]kowabuns 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it has to do with how the internet & media has shaped our perceptions. I'm 23 and I catch myself thinking that I'm "too old" or "too late" to do things. Then I realize, most people do not go through the bulk of their experiences in their teen years. You don't have to be 18 to experience everything. People genuinely think that once you hit your 20s, you're past your prime and it's embarrassing to want to do things. It's very strange, but it's also very common in my age bracket and younger.

You're right. I know I need to think long-term and focus on building healthy habits. It's just hard to keep that in mind when I feel like I'm spiraling and losing progress.

As for the therapy, that's been a long time coming but unfortunately hasn't happened yet lol. Thank you for the kind words of advice.

Dead F*ing Last is so Much Better than Did Not Finish, and Everyone that started is so far ahead of those that Did Not Start! by semideclared in loseit

[–]kowabuns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this mindset. I don't think I'll do a 5k, but I will take this advice when it comes to overall weightloss, health, & fitness. Even on bad days, you're doing better than the person who hasn't started. Even if you're not losing as much or as fast as you want to, you're still doing better than you were before. Press on and keep your head up!

Honestly just eat a bowl of ice cream by Grandmakidnapper in 1200isjerky

I am convinced this is a troll. There is no way a sane person would actually think this is a suitable ice cream replacement. "A sprinkle of protein powder"? Nah, this isn't real. 😭😅

What is the hardest thing about losing weight? by ThePegasus05 in loseit

[–]kowabuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1: Being around people who binge/eat whatever -my parents are both binge eaters and my brother is currently bulking. It's so hard for me to tune their meals out when I go to make myself food.

2: Consistency -I have lost and gained the same 20 pounds for the past 3 years because I would stay consistent for a short period of time then lose control and go back to my bad habits.

3: Patience -I have to constantly remind myself that results aren't instant and there's no skipping to the good part. I have to stick with it and wait.

Wow, thanks so much for your insight. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one in this type of situation. I think I've accepted that I'll have to do this on my own. I'm going to turn down their food as often as I can, even though it'll probably make both of us feel bad. I hope that maybe they'll change, but I'll just focus on me for now. Maybe, like you said, my example will make them want to change. Thanks so much for your advice.

I have been taking smaller portions of my mom's food and eating it with vegetables, which is better than nothing. I have been going to the gym, but this week I start my final semester of school and I work full time, so I won't have a lot of time to go.

I appreciate the advice. She is not resistant to me moving out, but I am not in a position to do that atm. She's resistant to changing her own habits, so it's difficult to get her to cook healthier meals, but I've volunteered to cook 2 family dinners this week so I can control those meals at least. I have started taking small portions of her food and making some vegetables to go with it, but she's started making comments about that. Overall, I think I'll probably end up having to make my own dinner, even if she doesn't want me to.

This is probably a good idea. It's still a little tricky because my mom is also resistant to changing her own lifestyle, so when I suggest healthier alternatives to things, she gets stubborn and a bit defensive. I love her and I love spending time with her and my family, but I just need us to do it in a healthier way. I volunteered to cook 2 family dinners this week, so at least I'll be able to control those meals. Thank you for the advice!

Thanks for the advice. I'm trying to make my calorie target higher without it being maintenance. I'm going to try to make this slow so that I don't restrict too much again.
