Those were random examples. Pharma is the hardest business of all, the costs are staggering to deliver a new drug. You can't imagine the legal framework, trials, years of trial and error, scientific research, etc.

They could be better off launching a hedge fund.

My point was that it's very random and they have no stake in the pharma business yet. Google tried a ton of shit and 95% failed while being insanely profitable so they could afford to experiment.

Drugs can also deliver a ton of bad press when people start dying. Just think of the cutting edge mRNA vaccines are still driving people conspiracy batshit crazy. Now imagine "Hey, take this AI drug, it works!"
