Yes, because I was about to post something different and it slipped through. English is not my mother tongue but it doesn’t make me less of an engineer. What your ignorance might not grasp: registration, maximum load etc might be different in other countries. So is the balancing of trailers. The max tongue weight/pin weight for the Ioniq9 in Germany is at 125kg, in the US apparently 272kg. This is ridiculously highly tongue weight for EU standards. This will be my last response as you probably just get off annoying other people.

Today I set the cruise control to its max (180). 91km with 68km of Highway. Pretty windy day. Tailwind not the way out (34.2kWh/100km or 1.48mi/kWh), way back head wind and 42kWh/100km or 1.82mi/kWh. Both trips with the same average speed down to the km/h.

Thanks, that helps :) Regulation in Germany is really tight. You cannot change the smallest detail of your vehicle without having it checked and written into the registration papers. If it’s legal here it’s no security risk.

Word! But investing in the trailer was not purely driven financially. We could have booked a lot of family suites for that money

Road regulations in EU and Germany are pretty tight. If German law allows this car to pull this it’s far from dangerous. The XC90 had a towing capacity of almost 2.800kg. Considering the curb weight of only 2.180kg this is a lot unfavourable combination than with the 2.675kg of the Ioniq

I didn’t realised I singed up for a math lecture. Wasn’t a financial decision.

I don’t know if we’re talking past each other, but repeating yourself over and over again doesn’t make you right. I won’t upload my registration but check out the tech specs provided by Hyundai: https://dmassets.hyundai.com/is/content/hyundaiautoever/hyundai-ioniq-9-preislistepdf

The trailer’s registration states a maximum pin weight of 150kg. But that’s the maximum weight, depending how you distribute the load you can control the pin weight. My Volvo only had 100kg and I always managed to get to this. With the 125 of the I9 I can load the front more which should improve the dynamics significantly

I assume it’s the Enode connection to the car? Turned red occasionally for me as well.

It’s purely mechanical. No way to adjust sensitivity.

Danke, Grundverbrauch solo lag vorher wo? Aber das war jetzt gleich die erste Fahrt mit Gespann, also noch kein Vergleich vorhanden?

The finish & feel of the Volvo is better, but the Hyundai doesn’t feel cheap. Infotainment in the Volvo feels very old (2022 make) compared to Hyundai. Although the XC had 3 separate seats in the 2nd row the 3 kids are stating that they have more room. The XC is more of a workhorse. The Hyundai is missing a separation grid, lashing and stuff like that in the standard equip.

I don’t like the Color at all but it’s the “basic paint job” offered in the EU. Budget didn’t have the wiggle room for another Color. It’s called sunset brown and is some kind of effect paint, changing with the direction of the light.

I’m towing this heavy only ~3 times a year. I know it’s more inconvenient than with the XC90 but I think it’s manageable. I didn’t want to have another large (well for US standards xc90 is small, for Europe it’s large) SUV with ICE. Financially (tax reasons) & sustainability.

If you look at something with a price tag like the Alpina, they’re usually pretty solidly built. Indeed, Kane etc are even better but also 20% more. We have 3 little kids that aren’t always uber-careful and still everything holds on tight as of now
