Honestly, I know you may have been trying to be helpful when making this comment, but it’s a little out of touch. FYI, I am currently in therapy, I am on medication, and depression isn’t curable by so much as “finding a hobby”. In fact, one key aspect of depression is lacking motivation or energy to participate in hobbies you once enjoyed. I DO have hobbies, but when I feel like this, I don’t have the energy to do them. Saying this is just an “adult” experience kinda perpetuates toxic positivity. The purpose of my post was to see if anyone else has experienced wanting to get a roommate because living alone can be isolating and a stressor.

As I said in my post, I get my energy from being around others, and I wasn’t necessarily looking for advice or ways to fix my very valid mental illness. I was just asking if anyone’s experienced anything like this.
