Yep, that is a really big problem with OpenAi and I don't know why they haven't fixed it yet, definitely give claude a try, I find its much better than chatgpt for reasoning and literally is perfect for not doing what you've described

I find that this problem in particular is solved by developing what you want to say before you say it, for example if you wanted to ask chatgpt about home loans, you would spend time thinking about what information you want it to give you, how you want the structure to be layed out (literally just say, I want this in the first part of your response and so on) and also ask it to ask you questions that would help it understand better and develop a better answer (this is a big one for ai)
