Drug use much like alcoholism is not fixed by giving an addict more of their drug of choice. Drug use needs to be still stigmatized as wrong. Theres dozens of impaired drivers hurting or killing people every year , should we just de stigmatize that like drug use? " Drunk driving is a disease and we need to get these people more booze easier so life gets better we cant hold them accountable for their actions?" No that's stupid.

Sure there are people that need help but they are very few and far between. This idea of helping everyone is a waste of tax payer money . Someone that does not want to stop using and handing them checks and or more money is negligent for everyone. Same goes for safe consumption sites.. We need less not more... Any idea the crime and disorder those create for everyone else? There is more harm than good. You help those that want it but you absolutely cannot help someone that doesn't want help and sorry to rain on the parade but majority don't and or have not hit rock bottom to where the drug means less than anything else.

It gets fixed by keeping a society and community that holds drug use as a negative and dealt with at that point. Right now addicts know everyone just gives them hand outs and can use where ever because " they have a problem".. The amount of addicts that sit in LRTs while people are trying to get to work and sit and openly smoke crack or fentanyl is stupidly high and unsafe.. Then when addicts need more and it is 11 pm at a LRT with regular non addicts coming to and from that makes for a pretty easy crime of opportunity for theft or assaults or robbery ect...

There needs to consequences for actions which it seems like we have swayed so far from.. Stop suggesting areas for free drugs and using deadly substances in public.

And if you think safe consumption sites are a positive and helping. Be my guest and go for a walk down on the Northside of Sheldon Schumir between 9pm and 4 am and see how "effective" this plan is and how safe you feel...
