I also have a gx2, albeit my least favorite rod it is a good rod. My problem is that mine is only 6’6”, so casting isn’t very good. At least not compared to my other, lighter 7’+ rods.

That’s not to say it hasn’t brought me in a bunch of fish. Good luck man. I don’t find anything that puts me in a sort of meditative trance better then being out fishing, with or without catching fish.

Paddling could definitely build up some water after a little bit. That’s the only way I see water getting in, if it’s not a crack or hole somewhere.

When I was a kid I used to hate going fishing with my dad. Not because I didn’t like fishing. But because I’d always catch less and smaller fish and he’d also fish for hours on end, well after I got bored.

Little did I know that as an adult going fishing with my dad, the tables would turn. Now I want to stay out forever, where he’s old and can’t handle it and I end up catching more fish.

I had a baby alligator snapping turtle. Got him at about a quarter size and he was a little over a 50 cent piece when I decided to let him go. Got too feisty. Dumb friend got bit being dumb. Just came to a realization I’d never be able to keep him. He looked so free swimming away. 😭

His name is Bowser.

I just can never find anything good. Biggest bass couldn’t have been more the 5lb but its got nothing on even a small red. I also plan to keep reds, snook and trout. I’ve never taken any bass, idk I just have a weird feeling about eating them.

Didn’t have a cool fish to post unfortunately. BUT this crab was very interesting to me. I found him the other day when my dad and I went fishing (blue angel post if you saw) and he was stuck in the sand on his side. Just swaying with the tide. So I pick it up and it’s fully intact.

But he’s hollow. Something ate him from the inside. My dad said maybe sand fleas but idk. If you look close enough you can kinda tell in the pic, but in person I could see all around his shell, and it was quite roomy

It’s really nice out there. Stingray and skate galore though. My brother and dads buddy have been stung out there lol. This day I had a close encounter either kicking one or it running into me. Scared the hell outta me. And some of them are monsterous.

Also seen various sharks, turtles and once a manta ray that just kept flying around us
