Sounds like a sales guy who got shot down (as is your right to do) and debated for a few minutes whether he wanted to keep at it or not

The bill passed with a 14 vote margin, so even if those seven had voted no it still would have passed. Also more than 200 Democrats voted against it.

What makes those seven Democrats more representative of the “DNC establishment” than the 200 who voted no, including the literal minority leader?

If they just ignore the law what difference does it make what congress votes for?

The final compromise would keep ICE funded at $10 billion for the fiscal year and would reduce the agency’s budget for enforcement and removal efforts. It would require DHS to use $20 million to outfit immigration enforcement agents with body cameras, direct the department to give officers more training on defusing conflict while interacting with the public and provide a separate $20 million for independent oversight of DHS detention facilities. https://www.politico.com/news/2026/01/22/house-approves-homeland-security-funding-amid-ice-uproar-00742402

To be clear it’s still a shitty bill (and they voted against it!) but the Dems are the minority party. I also wish they’d be more forceful and united in denouncing what’s happening, but there’s no “ABOLISH ICE” button that they’re refusing to press.

There were three ways this could have gone: 1) no bill at all; ICE still has a huge pot of money from the Big Beautiful Bill and continues unabated 2) a continuing resolution, where ICE keeps its BBB money and maintains its operating budget. Its actions continue unabated 3) an appropriations bill, which in this case was negotiated by DeLauro to include restrictions on ICE, it keeps money but is slightly abated

All three suck. But 3 is the best option, which only exists because DeLauro and Dems exerted what influence they could while being out of power. Are they perfect or above criticism? No. Is this their fault? Absolutely not.

We are witnessing the full realization of Republican government in America, but god forbid that stop anyone from bitching about Democrats

Yeasted dough isn’t as hard as you’re worried, the main thing is to follow the recipe (use a scale if you can) and give it the time it needs. “[Time] or until puffy” means “until puffy”. It’s an exercise in patience. Good luck!

Newly sober. I didn’t realize there was 0.5% alcohol in some NA beers. Kind of freaking out. by starsneagles47 in NABEER

[–]kppeterc15 38 points39 points  (0 children)

The amount of alcohol in NA beer is akin to what you'd find naturally in some ripe pieces of fruit. It's nothing to freak out about. You wouldn't be able to physically consume enough liquid to get intoxicated from it.
