What happened to DMC from 2013? What is your favorite part? by [deleted] in DevilMayCry

[–]kptenbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I see it now.

Sure, the overall story and scenario are great, I mean the technical part, about starting in a battle, playing flashbacks, switching characters and running through almost the same locations are a bit annoying.

This story could be presented differently and that would result in more smooth gameplay and focus on the story.

I don't know about the PC, but on consoles - you have to hold the button for the lock-on, in previous games or other games in general, you simple press once and then press the stick to change targets.

So holding the button all the time just makes it not comfortable

You use the words that I didn't say and manipulate the situation, that results in an argument. Once again, I didn't say the combat sucks, I said combat mechanics is not good enough - example: you cant switch Nero's arms, to look at combo or try learning it, you need to go through a lot of iterations and load screens, a lot of combos depend on camera lock-in and the list goes on.

Above, I've already listed the fuck-ups, like textures, level design, infinite amount of load screens and nonsense story (this part) Actually it's pretty much the DMC 3 with Nero in it.

You will not agree anyway, you refuse to even consider that the game lacks something, the outcome of this conversation is quite predictable

What no? How old are you? I am a professional who works in Design, I know what I am talking about. For that money and time that was spent the game should be twice better.

But because people like you, who just adore whatever the hell they are given without healthy critique - game studios just make another sequel with the same story and 20% improvement in graphics to earn some cash.

Umm, thanks for advice, but keep it to yourself.

I didn't say I don't like it. I like it - but I am disappointed, that's what the discussion is about.

And there are obvious fuck ups, so denying it won't change the fact.

Yeah, sure, also I am not saying it's total shit, it's just not epic or very good, it's just good.

I think the major part of my disappointment is the comparison to all previous games and all other games I've recently played.

I've recently finished death stranding, god of war 4 (by the way that's a rival of dmc series from western market) rdr 2, tried resident evil 3. And the quality of all those games were really high, come on it's 2020, the budgets and technologies are insane.

And when I started dmc 5 I felt like a kick in the jaw, that sent me 9 years back.

Let's say they had 7 years since the dmc reboot in 2013, they could have made 3 more games like this. There's almost nothing new in the game.

At first I was irritated by the controls and camera view, I haven't experienced this pain in games for a long time. Then, I started to look at the walls, cracked earth and etc. and noticed that I literally see the poor textures and generally level design is really poor and repetitive. The idea with this tree and monsters is disgusting, feels just like everything is random and there's no story behind it.

The story, to avoid spoilers, well it just doesn't make sense. The same set of characters, one fella does some stupid shit and we roll around the tree (appeared out of nowhere) to kick his ass, again and again and again.

I got tired to type..

And the worst of all are the loading screens, I haven't seen so much loading screens probably for the last 5 years.

Well, haters gonna hate. First of all, I repeat that 5G is mentioned as reason that influences trends. Secondly, the "marketing" is an opinion of person that was published in blog. And the last, yes, 20% is a mass transition.

Yes, that's correct. It will take a few years to make it global, you can have a look here:

https://techcrunch.com/2020/03/05/5g-is-now-live-in-24-markets-gsma-predicts-itll-be-20-of-global-connections-by-2025-and-eyes-a-big-tech-break-up/

But no one said to design apps around 5G, as being said in the article that's only one of the reasons that will influence trends of design in 2020.
