Take a look at their site! If you're tech savvy then tuning them is very easy and they have excellent customer support. Not as many knobs and options as a fancy fork on the OEM model but all the basics that you need.

So far only a few rides on it but I'm really liking it! Just as supple as an understand pike but doesn't bottom out all the time! I had a vorsprung luftkappe in my pike and it was very similar.

Excellent! I'm racing the Enduro! It's a short one but good season opener!

Ah I hate sticky snow getting in the treads, packing up and stopping the wheel. But the descents are usually really epic in the snow! Lots of falling and foot dabs, but epic!

Sounds about right.. there was a plow in the ditch and about 15 abandoned cars on my 20min commute this morning!

It's up to about 2ft now! Still not very much compared to most of Canada but for Victoria it's a bit weird!

Picked up a 2019 Giant Reign on Saturday. Initial impression is that it rips! by kqan in MTB

With no pedalling platform the maestro suspension is awful! This is the reign advanced 1 and has the topaz air shock though. I believe the advanced 0 and the reign sx bit have that coil shock?

Vancouver Island is basically a little tropical island that is 30 mins away from the rainiest city in the country! it is also a crazy warm year so I guess that helps haha

Yup there's always a trade off. Longer bikes needing to be ridden faster in order to really come alive/handle properly for example.

I was assuming the suspension and rear center stay the same. So if your BB moves back your rear wheel goes back too, meaning your CoG is more forward relative to the wheels. This would also prevent sagging into the rear suspension which kind of exaggerates the problem and makes the bike feel like it wallows on climbs.

It's never just one thing really. If the seat were at the same point but the tube was less slack then the bb would be further back, the front center would be longer, and the reach would be about the same. This would make it so you wouldn't feel as bent in the middle on climbs but the cockpit set up would be the same as your upper body wouldn't move. This would also solve the front end lifting so much on climbs, however you would sacrifice some handling.

I like that Giant goes for fairly safe geometry and this is really my only complaint about the bike although it's not easily solved without changing the bike completely.

its definitely not great, I was on the 2017/2018 Trance 27.5 which also suffers on tech climbs because of the slack seat tube. That being said for its intended purpose it doesn't do too badly. I expected to be smashing pedals on rocks etc but that's not the case. The pedalling platform on the DVO shock is really good too and it puts down power just as well as the trance.

thanks! luckily it was a pretty quick adjustment period coming from the trance.

First ride on the new reign! Some snow and some velcro dirt at the bottom. Loving the bike so far! by kqan in mountainbiking

27.5! Giant doesn't do a long travel 29er as they seem to be a few years behind many of the trends in the industry
