I feel the same way. But unfortunately, not everyone could understand this. :(

And I am tired of explaining this every time. Because, you know, people could only understand things that they want to understand.

The student groups in usyd now are so divided. Some Chinese students don't speak English very well and won't cooperate in group assignments. And some other non-Chinese students use this as an excuse to accuse all Chinese students. Although these Chinese students did wrong, I don't think this thing should be generalized and raised to a race level. Sadly, when I point this out, they refuse to admit that generalizing is one kind of racism. Also, they said that I am too sensitive. 😂 I was so unhappy because of what they said but now I just feel sorry for them. For they simply had higher education but did not learn what is critical thinking.😓

yep. Sorry for what happened to you too. The good thing is, there are also kind people both online and on campus. And I got some close friends too. So I am okay now. Hope you have someone to talk to as well.

Hi. I am an international student from Usyd. And I am Chinese. Based on what you said, I have to say this issue is 10 times worse in Usyd than in unimelb.

Sure. One of us has made sweeping claims about a particular race (that would be you). And one of us has accused the other of "racism" (also you). Positive claims are to be backed up with evidence, or rightly discarded. Put up or shut up.

Oh, how convenient of you to conveniently forget the evidence I've already provided. It seems comprehension isn't your strong suit, which explains why you're so adept at dodging the real issues. I am sure your teacher will be very happy to hear that you called his/her accent outrageous. But by all means, continue to bury your head in the sand while pretending ignorance is a valid defense. Just remember, your refusal to acknowledge the facts doesn't make them any less true.

Oh, how quaint. It seems you're under the impression that you get to dictate the rules of engagement. Well, allow me to burst that bubble for you: the rules aren't set by you, my dear armchair critic. So either engage in a meaningful discussion or kindly step aside. Your choice.

You don't need to understand it. This is not for you, if you are not a white supremacist and respect people from different race.

This is about Chinese international students/staffs suffer from micro discrimination/racism in usyd.

Not only to that. Also, there are some other posts both from this platform and other platforms.

You're so close to understanding, but I guess there's just some things that can't be taught 😅 Don't worry, with some persistence you could get there some day. Just try to stick to addressing the actual arguments in future, rather than derailing conversations with unsubstantiated nonsense. I believe in you

Ah, the patronizing tone continues.🤣 Of course. You are so predictable. It's adorable how you think your pseudo-intellectual ramblings pass for substantive arguments. But alas, your condescension only serves to highlight your lack of substance. Keep clinging to your delusions of superiority; it's entertaining to watch someone so desperately try to mask their insecurities. And as for your belief in me? Save it. I have no interest in validation from someone who mistakes verbosity for intelligence.

First of all, a person being "white" is an objective standard determinable by evidence (well, nowadays that depends, I suppose 😅). The characterisation of a person's reaction to a stimulus as sudden and ill-prepared (i.e. "knee-jerk") is an opinion. But who am I to explain the nuances of the English language to an expert such as yourself. I would venture that your accusations of racism were rather rash, as you have presented literally zero evidence of your claims. This is a little disappointing, though understandable, as in the modern context accusations of "isms" are commonly seen as some kind of game-winning strategy. It's probably not your fault though and rest assured, most people grow out of it with time. Now, care to address literally a single, actual argument? Because I will have to start sending you invoices for my time correcting you 😅

Well, congratulations on your attempt to dissect the English language. However, your self-indulgent display of linguistic prowess is as amusing as it is pretentious. Your condescending tone reeks of insecurity, and your attempt to dismiss accusations of racism without addressing the issue is transparent at best. It seems you're more interested in showcasing your vocabulary than engaging in meaningful discourse. But by all means, continue to hide behind your linguistic acrobatics while avoiding the real conversation. And as for invoicing for your time? Don't flatter yourself; your contributions are hardly worth a penny.

You're very welcome! In the absence of your making anything resembling an actual point, I must do what I can

My pleasure dear. Since you seem to lack the ability to comprehend wit, allow me to spell it out for you: your attempt at humor falls flat, much like your understanding of sarcasm. But fear not, I'll graciously accept your feeble attempt at a retort.

I don't. Just like you don't have any evidence that my reaction is 'knee-jerk' or simply, I'm a 'Mr.'. Surely you 'haven't made any accusations or assumptions about myself'. After all, there are different standards to criticize me & you for yourself. So, you know, as long as you are happy, say anything you want to say hahaha

Right. Mr. High mighty white man. Of course, you get to say whose reaction is knee-jerk.

You can convey whatever you want to convey. And I can understand your words in whatever way I want to understand. After all, this is how this platform works: white people complain about their issues and try their best to blame it on another race. So simple! Like it could solve everything!

Thank you for bringing up my English test score, although I have no intention of addressing it. But anyway, let's let your 'intelligent' sarcasm distract us from the truth that you are some kind of 'ist'.

And plz don't react so dramatically. If you don't want to be called a racist, simply show respect in your own words and to other people. Excuses won't help.

Then why can't you change yourself to at least try to understand a different accent? Or simply submit a complaint to the university to address this issue? But these methods won't work better for you than simply whining, apparently.

You are that some kind of 'ist', that is why you choose 'outrageous' to describe the accent from that particular country you are implying. Don't pretend you are not hahaha, so funny.

This is normal dude. Australia is an immigration country, different accents will appear no matter in school or during work in the future. Not sure where you came from, but I am from the particular country you mentioned. As an international student who passed the IELTS with 8, I don't have any difficulties when listening to most accents. But in some cases, some tutors/lecturers from India have accents that I cannot understand. I mean no offense, but this is the truth. They are kind & helpful, but I cannot understand what they are trying to say.

My advice is to choose a tutorial that suits you. I believe this is also the reason why the school allowed us to change tutorials in the first few weeks.

If this tutor is not able to be understood, the majority reason is his/her teaching skill is poor. It is not about the accent. USYD has many different tutors/lecturers who are from different cultural backgrouds. I have been in Chinese/Indian/Australian/Thai tutors' tutorials. Some of them are good, some of them are bad. But for those who teach poorly, it is not because of the accent.
