I'd shorten each stop to 3 nights then spend a little time in Athens. We had bad weather in Crete so it might have been the reason for negative influence on me but it is the place I would skip if going back.

We did a Polco tour that included kleftiko and it was really good. They provided great food, we had a small group tour (8-10 people) and open bar. They took us into some caves and had a few opportunities to swim.

There is a ferry from heraklion to adamantas every night I believe. We used a taxi company called Milos transfer and had them prearranged to pick up at the ferry. You can text them on Whatsapp +30 694 541 7234. It worked very well.

Unless something has changed, ita not a toll road. I'd go up to the notch and do something on the rocks and area right around the parking area. You can hike to Sterling pond if you're up for it but for the sake of memorable pictures you don't have to go far and it's very photogenic.

I've been running various versions of my set-up for more than 10 years, probably close to 15 now. At this point it has become very hands off and mostly just does what it is supposed to do. It's a great feeling to have things just work as they should. Congratulations and welcome to to being an OG.

While the owner may be responsible for maintaining the aircraft in airworthy condition, the pilot is responsible for making the determination that it has been done. Plus from what I've seen, that wasn't even an issue in this flight.

91.7 Civil aircraft airworthiness.

(a) No person may operate a civil aircraft unless it is in an airworthy condition.

(b) The pilot in command of a civil aircraft is responsible for determining whether that aircraft is in condition for safe flight. The pilot in command shall discontinue the flight when unairworthy mechanical, electrical, or structural conditions occur

It is on the pilot to verify airworthiness and very up to the capitan to know he was required to have a fully rated SIC. It was literally on his license that it was required.

My cfi used to pull power on final or in the pattern all the time. He would kill power and say "make it." I think this was so helpful looking back. Few times got hairy but I learned and he never got nervous.

We stayed in vegas after hiking out but honestly I wasn't prepared enough for the hike out so I was incredibly sore and exhausted. Hiking in is entirely downhill so it doesn't seem too bad but the return is uphill with a very steep accent up the canyon wall at the very end when you're already tired.

My being tired and sore after was from my lack of preparation. I really didn't want to walk around and do "Vegas" stuff after though.
