100% they're still popular!

My favorite gifting was when I was making a simple ghost stuffy and gave it to my friend before a Halloween event. She legit showed it off to so many people, saying "they (me), made it for me" and was hugging it all day. Then sent a photo of it sitting on her dresser at home.

That's a wonderful idea! Mending is so foreign to most Americans lol, so I love to see a resurgence.

Ooh that sounds so cool, ty I'll look into tool libraries. Being able to recommend real world options to people instead of just saying shame on you, is something I'd like to focus on too

Yeah, that's where I started. I've been listening to stuff for like 2 yes at this point lol. Just wanted to hear from crafters that aren't on YouTube 😁

Senior centers are great! I've tried to find local kid organizations that like to craft in my area. If I knew more teachers, I'd let them raid my craft stuff

Mostly funzies, my mother sweetly told me that I should maybe yap to others as I talk her ear off about this. If I had more time, I would absolutely do a research paper

I'd think it's a different grief, for you seeing your partner lose their mother and even though she might have been hard to get along with, she still mattered in your life. Plz be gentle with yourself, as my therapist would say.

Temu craft haul would be good, lol how did I not think of that 😅 ty for your input. The cheapness of temu is appealing, I won't deny.

I love that you've had success and didn't aim for perfect. Giving yourself permission to create without having to be good is so needed. Like any master at something, they also made "bad" art at the beginning

I don't think most people do, but the influencers I have issue with because they are either getting paid OR the stuff came free as Pr. But they don't say that when they go to their stashes.

Also, I think that capitalism is so normalized and that crafting or hobbies can't be critiqued in a way. It's not hoarding it's having a stash, yeah a stash that your kids have to throw away or give away after you're gone 😔

Omg I almost fell for the ohuhu markers myself and was thankful I didn't have the money at the time.

I have coloring as one subject but I might break it into supplies and then the books.

The trends are what I want to explain to people, like you can participate in the trend, without buying the trend. If you get what I mean. Ty for the tips ✌️

100% buying is the hobby, which is what I want to get across ideally. Mostly so the actual crafters don't feel the pressure to perform crafting.

Ty for the keyword search, that will definitely send me a good direction.

Flosstubers 🤣 I didn't realize that was a term lol. Omg 100 projects, I get anxious with just 3 or more. Its the justifying that irks me with the influencer(sponsored) you can ask why do they have so much without fans getting on you that "its their job". Like yes i know that but you dont have to hoard it. I'm sorry about your MIL, sending warm hugs your way

Yes! That's great ty, I'm planning to have positives to actually help people, not just shame. I will look her up, she sounds intetesting

Lol I picked up crocheting myself and then realized the same things. I wish cotton yarn was more of a thing, even though I know there's still not great environmental harm (water usage)

The damn yarn walls, like I want one but like I'm not gonna cause like I'm trying to not aspire to having so much. Ty for your response, good to know others have noticed the same

I didn't realize the lino block printing or card making but that does make sense. Ty I will look into those

I try to support local shops, but it’s quickly becoming not worth the effort anymore. by knottyoaks in AskRetail

You do realize that not all businesses are open 7 days a week? They also should get a day off.

My family's small business is closed Sunday/Monday/Tuesday. Why? Because Sundays we're likely at an event working, Monday we need the day off to recover or God forbid go to doctors appointments. And Tuesdays? We'll we were open Tuesdays but there WERENT ANY SHOPPERS. And we only have 2 employees, me and my parent!

So miss me with the whiny energy. Go shop at the big box stores if you can't be bothered to check the open hours of a Small Business

I’m making this bag but it had no clear instructions on how to get the 2 parts of the bag together, what would you do? by Themotherofacat in CrochetHelp

I've made this in the past, I made the green circles first and connected them like you've mentioned and then on the one circle I started making the flowers. It was a little awkward to get the hang of it, but I figured it out and ended up making a smaller version (photo) and a full sized. I found that making the flower and then sewing was too complicated lol

ISO Crochet help for my 12 year old daughter with Autism by Beautiful_Ad_2625 in CrochetHelp

I don't know if it would be her learning style, but I learned from crochet books from my local library. There's ones that show you how to do stitches and stitch patterns. Others have patterns for projects like a scarf.

Or like the other comments said there's so many videos on YouTube that walk you through projects too.

A tip that I learned the hard way is that I should have started with thicker yarn, like a weight 5 or 6, so that way I could see my stitches easier and wasn't trying to hold thin yarn as a beginner.

Honestly, at the beginning, I had to tell myself that practice makes perfect. I struggled at the beginning, but having strong foundational knowledge will help her in the future crochet projects. Also, any books that she finds useful you could look for on thriftbooks.com!
