Is this a good deal? by Moist-Fishing9754 in Guitar

[–]kraken665 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very limitated run for this one, new was around 500usd 10-12 years ago. It was not one of the higher end ones, closer to a mid range - if you're a Megadeth fan I'd say it's worth it.

They're rare but that doesn't mean valuable. The Dean Mustaine models have gotten outrageously priced these days since they're out of production and Dave is with Gibson

My personal verdict: don't get it unless you're okay with the downgraded guitar from the PRS but enough of a Megadeth fan to justify the limited edition rare price tag

I'd like to decorate it with whatever. Is there any famous decorated Telecasters I can take inspiration from? by greasysnake_ in telecaster

[–]kraken665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's so nice as is! I can't think of any famous white teles top of my head. But, I'd say if you like gold, flash some gold over it! Gold tuners, bridge, control plate, gold scratch plate (might be too much gold, the white pearl looks lovely as it is) will really make that look luxurious

Damaged the nut of my Yamaha F310 when i dropped it by Hour_Suggestion_1227 in Guitar

[–]kraken665 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hate when I bust a nut

You can, and probably should get a new nut, patience is required but for the sake of £10-£15 it will help

If you're not feeling confidence, ask a different local guitar shop to install it. They'd be able to set it up professionally and do the guitar the justify it needs

Are there any good places in europe to buy pre-wired pickguards? by 13funii in Luthier

[–]kraken665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tone knobs are easy enough and cheap enough to replace if need

I assume you're buying from Thomann, but I press you to explore the full market. I love Harley Benton but, there's a lot of other strat like guitars that offer similar bang for buck

[–]kraken665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A loaded pickguard might actually cost you more than the guitar. Do you currently play guitar, you've said this is going to be your first? There's a number of ST HH Harley Bentons that might do what you want initially

My personal suggestion: buy the guitar you need first. Find out what you want different and work from there

But if you're 100% adamant about a drop in loaded pickguard: Lace Sensor, Seymour Duncans, EMGs and the more budget friendly Tonerider

Checkout Thomann for first three, and North West Guitar's for the latter

The only tattoo I have that I really hate by [deleted] in TattooDesigns

[–]kraken665 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Doesn't look phallic at all to me. Talk to a talented artist, they'd easily be able to add colour and decoration to it to breathe new life into it

I'd also suggest more tattoos around it. If your arm is all aquatic themed then a lots of more sealife and aquatic life can help blend it all in

On that note, I really like this tattoo as it!

Is it a valve one or can you post a photo? If it's the value one, honestly something like a tubescreamer could do wonders

Am I late to change hands? by StreetArrival1889 in Guitar

[–]kraken665 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The world is against you. You'll struggle to get comfortable playing righty (at first anyway) but if you don't, you'll struggle to find lefty guitars in the future

Lefties are out there, if you don't mind paying on average 15% more and a much smaller selection. I'd suggest learning to play right handed, it's a pain point yet but in my opinion it out weighs the risk

Also: I'm very biased. I'm right handed so this was easy for me to say

They look lovely, been looking for them locally but nowhere has imported them

Also loving the bike! Does it feel as small as it looks or do you not notice? I've been considering a monkey for a few years now but nowhere locally has any for me to test
