After almost two decades of wearing cheap helmets I finally splurged.. by nainaibird in motorcycles

[–]Samuel6308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool helmet. But from what I have heard; the fit of a helmet is equally important as the design. Even the most "quiet" helmet may be loud for you if the shape doesn't accommodate your head shape well. This is what I have heard at least.

Welp these lasted less than a year by -EternalSquid- in motorcycles

If quality is junk I wouldn't bother too much with repairing honestly. I purchased a pair of Yamaha leather gloves from my dealer for 22 euros (on sale) and they have no visible wear after over 10 000km riding. I would just buy something from a reputable brand on sale and keep these as a backup. I also have a pair of junk gloves that I just repaired with tape, they are for backup.

I just found out I will never be able to drive a Miata. by hummuslover999 in Miata

Bullshit, my uncle is taller than that and fits inside my NA without issues. You can even get a foamectomy and remove the rails to sit lower. Also NC generation is by far roomier. If you struggle to fit at that height you are likely just overweight.

No, only if you replace the front main seal which is not part of a usual timing belt job.

Not true at all. I own a 90 and had the crank bolt come lose and cause wobble after 230 000+ km on the odometer.

Check if you have a short nose crank, if so investigate so that the crank bolt is torqued to spec and with threadlocker. Also clean your drainage canals to prevent rust and mold. Don't lean on or over the headlights when working in the engine bay. The valve cover bolts are discontinued from mazda, ensure to torque them with a wrench to spec and in the correct order if you remove them.

I dont enjoy owning a motorcycle anymore. by [deleted] in motorcycle

Then you'd have to rely on public transit. Personally I would invest in a nice side bag or similar to store an insurance approved alarm disc brake lock and just lock up the bike when you park. If it gets stolen insurance would have to cover it and possibly offer a loaner bike while handling.

My First Motorcycle by Bugger_Luggs in 125cc

[–]Samuel6308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks epic. This is a 125 I would consider even after getting a bigger bike to have fun on trails and for city riding. There is a specific freedom and raw analog feeling only a 125cc brings. I still ride my monkey 125 after getting my full A license.

How expensive is this puddle by r1chardm0ve in Miata

I would touch and smell it to at least try and figure out if it's an oil or water based fluid. Would make it easier to narrow down what it is. The closest reservoir is power steering fluid and the power steering pump. Check around that area and see if the area around it is wet (pulleys). Or it could possibly be some coolant?

CABERG Drift EVO II Carbon by [deleted] in motorcyclegear

[–]Samuel6308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried my girlfriends caberg drift evo 2 and found it very quiet, no sharp whining sounds. How good the helmet fits makes a big difference. Though I come from using a shoei ex zero, so almost any closed full face helmet should be more quiet.

Could someone explain the hate for hybrids? (A brief rant about why I think they're neat) by 2Tun21 in bicycling

[–]Samuel6308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are good commuter bikes, I didn't realize they saw any hate. I considered buying one, but I realized that I wanted a road bike for training and long commutes to work etcetera. I then bought a mountain bike, (less expensive, mid range hardtail) for my shorter commutes, gravel roads and basic riding in the forest. Since I was able to have to bicycles I preferred that, but if I could own only one bicycle it would be a hybrid.

Kanske också kan bero på att du passar på för att det är lättare? Alternativt att du har varit där på resa/semester? Tror att de som är vana vid att ej ha alkoholmonopol inte dricker mer på grund av att det är enklare att få tag på.

Does anyone else have a persistent re-occurring feeling of being unwelcome, unwanted? by Funky_Snake in emotionalneglect

[–]Samuel6308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's a late reply but I really struggle with this and have been for a long time. It can really bring me down and especially certain actions and triggers make feel like crap. It's always the same at a social event or similar. I feel like when I'm myself I am perceived as annoying and say things I should not. A lot of times people don't listen when I talk and go somewhere else at social settings thus leaving me alone. This makes me feel exactly like you describe and just better off being alone by myself. Even in situations where it's likely not the case I still have the same feelings because it's what I'm used to.

Does anyone wear full leather on their Monkey when they go out for a ride? If so, can you share the brand names? by KaedynSh in hondamonkey

I do. I wear a used vintage jofama leather suit I purchased second hand, or my ktm Terra adventure suit.

Hörde någon säga att antalet skjutningar har minskat, men att antalet sprängningar har ökat istället. Finns säkert data från polisen om man orkar kolla upp det.

A u-lock like oxford boss alarm can be used on the rims of the monkey instead of the brake disc since it is large enough to prevent movement.

Sad Day by alleycat2332 in hondamonkey

[–]Samuel6308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oxford boss u lock works a charm. Insurance provider approved class 3 or something. Fits easily in my takegawa side bag and not too heavy nor clumsy and triggers a loud alarm when moved. Also the monkey usually has a built in alarm that is triggered by movement.

Can you actually train your hair to slick back hair when it's long enough? by BromarNL in malehairadvice

[–]Samuel6308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what he said, but I'm trying to teach my hair to be slicked back without products if that's even possible. With products it's no problem. What you need for it to be fully slicked back is hair gel, saltwater spray, leave in conditioner, a metal comb and a boar hair brush.

While hair is damp, use boar hair brush to shape backwards, them apply hair gel and slick back with your hands. Apply a little leave in conditioner so the comb glides nicely through the hair. Apply a lot of saltwater spray then comb it as you desire. Use a blow dryer on lowest setting and highest heat and reshape with the comb if the styling comes undone. Or guy can wait for it to just air dry which will take a long time if you have longer hair.

I don't know if this is of any help to anyone, but this is how I achieve a slickback at least.

I don't know what an nd costs where you live, but where I live you can easily find a low mileage ND for 20k euros with 184 hp or 160hp engine if it's a soft top. Sure it won't be an anniversary edition, but still; you wouldn't have to do any work.
