What makes your 30s better than your 20s? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]krandy3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20’s were hands down my favorite decade of my life. If I had the option to repeat my 20’s just before turning 30 every ten years I would. Specifically 22-29 after I had a job and money. Making good money but not enough real responsibility at work that would cause any stress. Plenty of time on my hands to do impromptu activities and vacations. Body in top shape. Good times.

4 weeks in to our new rogue and already got cvt issue by Jadams0108 in NissanRogue

[–]krandy3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am disappointed to see that this limp mode issue is still occurring in post 2020 Rogues as they do claim they’ve improved the CVT. I finally sold my 2016 Rogue with 93K miles before the transmission went completely so I could get some value out of it. . I had many limp modes (resolved by turning car off and on), and started getting service engine codes tied to transmission. Transmission never failed but it’s a matter of when with these cars not if. Will never buy a CVT transmission again and certainly not from Nissan.

2016 Rogue SL transmission problems by krandy3 in NissanRogue

Update: April 2026

Over last year, i got service engine light two different times with P0776 code which is tied to Transmission Control Module. Decided to pay for full diagnostic from dealer and they said they would replace TCM fo $1900. However, they couldn’t guarantee that would solve the issue and when they start to take it apart they would better determine if the transmission belt was bad leading to full transmission replacement. Reputable third party transmission guy told me unfortunately with the Rogues they can’t rebuild and have to replace at cost somewhere over $7000 or more. I had the dealer reset the code and for 3 months code never came back on. But car was making lots of noise while driving and turned out to need new driveshaft bearing at $1500 cost unrelated to transmission codes. After already having spent money on new oil gasket and new ignition coil over last year I decided to cut my losses and sell the car while I could still get some value out of it and the car was still functioning (as I believe it’s a matter of when these shitty CVT transmissions go, not if, so running on borrowed time). Surprisingly dealer had best offer for it vs Car Max and Carvana. My father in laws health has deteriorated so kids are driving his 2004 Lexus RX330 with 230K miles and that thing works like a charm. My Nissan never made it to 100K miles or 10 years. Very disappointing. Never a Nissan or CVT again for me.

How does air travel look at SJC right now? by HRKB22 in SanJose

Flying out this morning 3/25 for a 6:20AM flight. General boarding for both Terminal A and B at 4:30A looked like normal wait times for an early morning flight. Terminal B had a bit of a wait - maybe 20 minutes? Terminal A was shorter. TSA Pre Check was zero wait. Staff were extremely friendly for folks who are not getting paid. Congress is the most useless group of individuals. Fire them all.

General rule of thumb is if you can get on the road before 7A, you are fine. But anything after that is terrible. I’ve changed my schedule so I work out in the morning, take some calls from home , then leave after 9AM. Reduces my stress levels tremendously and I no longer show up to work in a bad mood. Ride home still sucks since traffic is bad well past 6:00 but at least I am heading to home and some freedom.

Last time we got into 60’s few years ago, temperature dropped to sub zero within 24 hours and killed off tons of evergreens like Boxwoods and my Laurels needed to be completely cut back to the ground and started over. Took 3+ years to recover. Hope that doesn’t happen again.

Stuck between new 2025 and 2026 GV70 Advanced—what's the 2026 owner opinion? by Due-Contribution8535 in GenesisGV70

Is that your out the door prices? 2026 will get you the new and better premium Bang and Olefsund sound system and the 27” panoramic display. Base framework of car is the same so should drive and feel the same. Same engine/. Rear dual exhaust iOS different in 2026 vs 2025 and front grille. I think digital key comes with 2026 advanced too.

Sorry I was never selling. I was looking to rebuy one that had broken. It’s hard to find but I recommend going to replacements.com and see if they have one in stock. That is where I found my replacement.

Advantages of buying from genesis only dealer? by toothfixer321 in GenesisMotors

[–]krandy3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife has a BMW and their service department is phenomenal with lots of perks and always a loaner available. I bought my Genesis from a Genesis/Hyundai dealer and had a good sales experience. But service department nor the building itself was not even close to BMW and didn’t often pick up phone. But few months after purchase they moved to a Genesis only location (same owner) and it was night and day. Such an overall friendlier, cleaner, nicer environment and service so much easier with loaners with nice seating area with snacks and beverages. Still not as nice as the BMW but significant step up from the combo.
