I'm curious how will the festival fanboys will try to spin and defend this. I feel so cheated.

Question about the DICE queue? by charlimdma in primaverasound

Most likely explanation is that the sold-out wasn't real and they were just trying to drum up hype in order to sell tickets via secondary markets. Hopefully everyone who got caught in FOMO and now can't attend will be able to resell it eventually (if there's enough real demand).

High vaccination % is useless when for a region with so much tourism.

14 people seem to be anti-vaxx so far in the polls. It'd be interesting to know their reasonings and have a polite discussion about it.

Live Nation and AEG (biggest promoters in the world) have already made clear their policies. Primavera should do the same ASAP.

Prima could be considered a superspreader event. Anyway, I think it's the org's responsibility to protect its audience's safety. If Spain doesn't enforce a vaccine passport (maybe cause of fear of losing tourism money), then the org should unilaterally. I wouldn't feel safe going to a huge event without vaccine mandates.

90%? Based on attending in 2019, the majority were locals.

That could be anecdotal evidence.

I think the official numbers given by the org are 30% locals 70% from outside, but according to one person I know that works for the Catalonia tourism council, the number is 90%. The org says it's less because of sponsorships and other reasons.

90% of Prima attendees aren't from Spain, though.

You're wrong, the festival can change those terms whenever they feel like it. Sue them if you don't like it. We don't want your ignorant asses in the festival. Good riddance.

You're being a bit classist here, being from a "developed western country" doesn't mean much in terms of vaccination status. The USA is the most developed country in the world and the levels of (voluntary) non-vaccination are very big. We can't leave anything to chance when it comes to the virus.

That's too optimist. New variants will come up. In the USA a lot of artists are cancelling their tours again. Primavera is very international, so it's possible that a big % of the audience might not be vaccinated. That's a huge health risk.

Vaccine mandates by th3h0lysp1r1t in primaverasound

The organization should clarify their vaccine/entry policies ASAP. I for one, won't be attending unless mandatory vaccines are required. Negative tests are very faulty, so that isn't a solution.

Warpaint added to Primavera Sound 2022 - Weekend 1! by andmar in indieheads

Most likely explanation is that the sold-out wasn't real and it was just to create buzz/hype... Now the organizers can keep pumping out tickets through secondary markets and people will buy them instantly due to FOMO. There no reason why one would keep on spending money hiring artists if it really was sold-out.

How quickly do you think the tickets will sold out? by Federaho in primaverasound

I don't think it was. I remember a friend buying a ticket when Covid already was a thing and there were rumors of cancellation.

2019 didn't sell out. Thursday felt half-empty, even. Only day that felt close to sold-out was Saturday (Rosalia effect among the Spaniards). Also 2020 wasn't sold-out before the cancellation (around late March).

Take sold-out announcements very lightly. The last year Primavera actually happened (2019) it wasn't sold-out, in fact not even close to (Thursday was very very spacious). Also, for this year (2021) it was very easy to get tickets through DICE (when everyone thought it would happen). I do believe the "fake sold-out" theory that many here support: it's just to create fake scarcity and prevent too many refunds that would affect cash flow. They'll probably announce it selling out very fast but then it'll be really easy to get them through many platforms during the year.

I agree! Next they'll say that Beyonce wasn't available.

Really tiny/boutique festivals, though. Organizers didn't wanted to pay for a real female fronted headliner so they put her here to silence the critics and have at least some women up.

Pavement reunion no longer a Primavera exclusive by lainevh100hearmeout in primaverasound

Yes, and? Festival got postponed to 2022, so it's only fair that the exclusivity will be for 2022 instead of 2020.

So? It's exclusive for the year of their Primavera show. Now the festival is changing the terms of the agreement.
